Real Mex Restaurants, owners of the El Torito, Chevys Fresh Mex and Acapulco Mexican restaurant chains (among others), recently shuttered 14 of its restaurants, including two here in the Inland Empire.
The company said adiós to El Torito restaurants in Temecula and Riverside (Park Sierra).
The Riverside Plaza El Torito location remains open, as well as El Torito locations in San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario, Upland and Corona; Chevys Fresh Mex in Ontario; and Acapulco locations in Montclair and Moreno Valley.
The company says the closures strengthen its portfolio as it moves toward acquiring a new restaurant chain, one that would apparently double the size of the company.
Real Mex is not naming the company it’s looking to acquire.
