Well, you're not alone!

I found a couple of reports online that indicated Panera Bread was giving away bagels today, but nothing on Panera's Web site, nor their Twitter or Facebook pages. So, you might want to take those reports with a grain of salt. With one series of storms having passed through last week and another storm on the way, the fine folks at the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health have issued tips for safe home heating and safe cooking (and storage) of food.

The tips are pretty common sense:

Don't use gasoline, propane, natural gas or charcoal-burning devices to heat your home.

Throw away food (including food containers with screw-caps, and home canned foods) that has touched flood or storm water.

Throw away perishable food that has been at 41 degrees or warmer for more than two hours.

Don't use contaminated water to wash dishes, brush your teeth, wash and
prepare food, wash your hands, make ice, or make baby formula.

This is especially important to remember if the power goes out, as it has in the mountains during the recent storms.

Follow the jump to read the county's press release.
San Bernardino County Department of Public Health, Division of Environmental Health Services (DEHS) advises area residents living in areas without electrical service to be safe when cooking and heating your homes. Generators, grills, camp stoves, or other gasoline, propane, natural gas or charcoal-burning devices should never be used inside a home, basement, garage, camper, or even outside near an open window.

When power outages occur during emergencies such as winter storms, the use of alternative sources of fuel or electricity for heating, or cooking can cause carbon monoxide to build up inside a living area which can poison the people and animals inside.

DEHS also advises residents to throw away food that may not be safe to eat. Throw away food that may have come in contact with flood or storm water. Also, do not eat perishable foods such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs and leftovers that have been above 41°F for over 2 hours. Thawed foods that contain ice crystals, or are 41°F or below, can be refrozen or cooked. Food containers with screw-caps, and home canned foods should be discarded if they have come in contact with floodwater because they cannot be disinfected. Cans which have come in contact with flood or storm water can be disinfected by removing the label, washing the can and dipping in a solution of 1-cup bleach to 5 gallons of water. Do not use contaminated water to wash dishes, brush your teeth, wash and prepare food, wash your hands, make ice, or make baby formula.

For more information on safe food handling practices, contact the San Bernardino County Public Health, Environmental Health Services division at (909) 884-4056 or visit the website at www.sbcounty.gov/dehs.

Earlier this month, P.F. Most of the items I compared were $3 less.

Happy Hour items are priced from $3 to $6...get it? 3 to 6 p.m. -- $3 to $6 prices? Clever, huh?

Of course, there is one item (a glass of Pabst Blue Ribbon) that's only $2, but let's pretend we didn't see that.

We stumbled upon the Happy Hour this past Friday afternoon at the Victoria Gardens location in Rancho Cucamonga.

The result? For $20 and pennies per person (including tax, but not tip), we had a delicious, filling meal that included a wide variety of food, a high-end Margarita and dessert.

Follow the jump for more details.
For our $60.80, we got:

Chang's chicken lettuce wraps (Happy Hour price $5)

Egg rolls (Happy Hour price $3)

Crab wontons (Happy Hour price $4)

Salt and pepper calamari (Happy Hour price $5)

Mongolian beef ($14.95)

Three organic agave Margaritas (Happy Hour price $6)

Flourless chocolate dome ($5.95)

Looking at the list, I think next time (which I hope is soon), I'd probably substitute one order each of shrimp dumplings (Happy Hour price $5) and seared ahi tuna (Happy Hour price $6) for the full-price Mongolian beef.

Also, I'd probably bypass the Margarita (as good as it was) for a large jar of Gekkeikan Saké (Happy Hour price $4) to share.

Did I mention that the Happy Hour prices are in effect every day?

Another point which needs emphasizing is that the discounts are available both in the bar and in the dining room, which is a huge plus.

You can see the whole glorious Happy Hour menu for yourself by clicking here.

Tips for travelers: P.F. Chang's Happy Hour is only in select states right now, and certain locations in participating states are not offering it (the Planet Hollywood Casino, Las Vegas, location is one).

It appears that all four Inland Empire locations (7870 Monticello Ave., Rancho Cucamonga; 3475 Tyler St., Riverside; 3445 Grand Ave., Chino Hills; and 40762 Winchester Road, Suite #400, Temecula) are participating.

If you're a P.F. Chang's fan (Hi, Traci!), this is a great way to get your fix and not spend a lot of dough. If you have never tried their food, this is a great way to give them a try without a lot of risk.

If you have gone, or decide to check it out for yourself, feel free to leave a comment below.
and half-price appetizers (one per guest) on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Click here to see all the deals.
I chose mahi-mahi and shrimp.

There's really nothing that's as simply delicious as mesquite-grilled shrimp sprinkled with lemon juice and then dipped in melted buttter. Ah!

The mahi-mahi was also delicious and done to perfection.

The meals (with the exception of the fish and chips) come with warm sourdough bread and two sides. We all had the cheese potatoes and loved them!

The offers have been running since October, and it's unknown how much longer they're going to be in effect. So, if you're a seafood lover, do yourself a favor and head on over to take advantage.

In addition to the Ontario Mills location (at the north side of the mall, across from AMC Theaters), they have their original location in Riverside (3525 Merrill St., across from Riverside Plaza). They also have locations beyond the Inland Empire in Orange, Huntington Beach and Fremont.
They'll be in various San Diego locations February 17 through March 14; Los Angeles March 17 through April 12; and Orange County from April 14 through May 16.

From there, they travel to Bakersfield.

So, according the tour schedule, no Inland Empire dates.
Mind you, the schedules for their SoCal tour haven't been set yet, so there's a chance that those "Orange County" dates might include some stops here in the Inland Empire.

Note to Tillamook: The Inland Empire is not in Orange County.

Will we see those cute little vans revving through Rialto; tooling around Temecula; motoring through Montclair; or cruising through Colton? They'd look particularly cute rolling down the "Mother Road."

It appears unlikely.

If you want to experience the "Loaf Love Tour," it seems you'll have to drive into L.A. or Orange County to do so, but we'll know more when actual dates are posted.

If only there were a way Dine 909ers could contact Tillamook and politely ask if the Inland Empire is included in the tour.

In the meantime, there's always Costco.
