Redlands businesses raising funds for terror victims today

Bonded and StrongAbout 40 Redlands businesses — including eateries and breweries — will be hosting a “Bonded & Strong” fundraiser today (December 19) for victims of the December 2 terror attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino.

Parliament Chocolate and à la minute are leading the charge (along with International Day Spa) by donating 100% of sales — and in the case of à la minute, at its three locations in Redlands, Claremont and Orange — to the cause.

Redlands MOD Pizza celebrates grand opening Tuesday with fundraiser

Redlands MOD Pizza grand openingWell, that didn’t take long.

MOD Pizza is opening its first Inland Empire pizzeria in the new Mountain Grove shopping center in Redlands, just a few weeks after the center’s first eatery — The Habit Burger Grill — opened.

The pizzeria is celebrating its grand opening tomorrow (December 8).

The first 52 customers in line when the restaurant opens at 11 a.m. will receive a free pizza or salad.

Redlands Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry returns Sunday

Redlands Bake Sale for No Kid HungrySunday (October 25) is your chance to get some sweet treats for yourself and help end childhood hunger at the same time. That’s because it’s the return of the Redlands Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry.

This year, there will be a change versus previous outings. Instead of a separate event held in the spring, the organizers have joined with the Downtown Redlands Art Walk.

The event is set for noon to 6 p.m. at various businesses in the downtown area.

Rah Rah Redlands to feature food trucks

Food trucks will again be part of this year’s Rah Rah Redlands at the University of Redlands’ Ted Runner Stadium.

The homecoming tailgating event, which is open to the public, runs until 8:30 p.m., with the football game kicking off at 7 p.m., tonight (October 3).

Adult admission, which includes the football game, is $10. Kids 4 to 12 get in for $5. U of R students and kids 3 and younger get in free. A family pass — good for two adults and up to four kids — is $35.

J. Riley Distillery launch party is tonight in Redlands

Redlands-based J. Riley Distillery has released its first batches of whiskey for sale.

The distillery has two varieties — California Clear and 1775 — available for sale now at KB Korner Liquor, 402 E. Redlands Blvd., Redlands, and will soon be available at other retail outlets.

A launch party is slated for 7 to 10 p.m. tonight (July 25) at The District, 19 E. Citrus Ave., Suite 101.

Besides The District, J. Riley whiskey is served at several other downtown restaurants, including Darby’s American Cantina, Rok N Fondue, and The State.

San Bernardino Jimmy John’s set to open Tuesday

Jimmy John's San BernardinoWe’ve known about the San Bernardino Jimmy John’s since we spotted it in mid-May, and initially was told it was set to open in the first part of June.

Well, it turns out that timeline was a little optimistic.

The eatery, 1060 Harriman Place, Suite C5, is now set to open on Tuesday (July 21).

The franchise owners have another location in the works.

Dhat Island returns tonight

Dhat Island pop-upThe original plan, after Redlands’ Dhat Island closed in November, the plan was to find a new place and reopen in the spring.

Fans are still waiting.

Tonight, however, fans will be able to enjoy some delicious Caribbean cuisine when the owners have a pop-up at Carolyn’s Cafe, 1711 Lugonia Ave., Suite 101, Redlands.

The event, which follows a similar pop-up two weeks ago, begins at 4:30 p.m.

Carolyn’s Cafe hosting another BBQ night Saturday

Carolyn's BBQ NightFans know Carolyn’s Cafe in Redlands is a great spot for breakfast or lunch.

However, man (and woman) does not live on breakfast and lunch alone. So, Carolyn’s Cafe is hosting another of its rare BBQ Nights this Saturday (February 21).

The restaurant will be serving pulled pork and brisket plates and sandwiches and a Southwest bacon avocado burger, along with side dishes and desserts — including Carolyn’s deliciously decadent coffee cake.

The event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., but you probably want to get there early to avoid any sell-outs.

Carolyn’s Cafe is at 1711 W. Lugonia Ave., Suite 101.
