San Bernardino ranked as one of the worst cities for foodies — again

Here we go again.

Back in 2013, a real estate website, Movoto, compiled a list of “America’s Worst Cities for Food Lovers,” and San Bernardino landed at the top of the list.

Last week, it was WalletHub’s turn.

The personal finance website posted its list of “2016’s Best & Worst Foodie Cities,” and guess what?

Yep. San Bernardino loses again.

But … it’s not as bad as Fontana, apparently.

Del Tacos testing new ‘platos’ at select Inland Empire locations

Del Taco recently introduced its new platos at select locations in San Bernardino, Redlands, Colton, Loma Linda and Riverside.

The platos come with a choice of either a wet burrito, two fish tacos or two street tacos, plus cilantro lime rice, beans and chips and salsa.

Prices range from $6.49 to $7.49.

It appears to be a second go-round for Del Taco’s platos. They were also tested about a year ago in the Sacramento area.

If you’re interested in trying them for yourself, head to one of these locations:

  • Colton: 834 W. Valley Blvd.; 1010 E. Washington St.
  • Loma Linda: 24898 Redlands Blvd.
  • Redlands: 1624 W. Redlands Blvd.; 602 E. Redlands Blvd.
  • Riverside: 3487 Arlington Ave.; 4407 Brockton Ave; 6333 Riverside Ave.; 1255 University Ave.; 3199 Van Buren Blvd.
  • San Bernardino: 272 E. 40th St.; 2665 S. Waterman Ave.

Jack in the Box brunchfastJust what is “brunchfast”?

Is it too late for breakfast, but too early for brunch?

Like Taco Bell’s Fourthmeal, Jack in the Box’s Brunchfast is a completely artificial construct designed for one thing: Sell more food.

Requiem for Jason’s Deli

A moment of silence, please.

The Riverside Jason’s Deli has closed.

We were big fans of the restaurant, and appreciated its strive to use ingredients free of high-fructose corn syrup and artificial flavors and colors. Oh, and the free ice cream. In fact, we even named it a Dine 909 favorite.

However, I can’t help but feel that the location was doomed from the start.

Steak ‘n Shake coming to Riverside; hiring event Wednesday and Thursday

Ever since Steak ‘n Shake opened in Victorville a few years ago, we’ve been waiting for more locations here in the Inland Empire.

The chain has been ever so slowly opening locations here and there in Southern California.

A Santa Monica location opened in October 2014. A Burbank location followed at the end of last year. A location opened in Aliso Viejo on Monday.

Now finally, a Riverside location is set to open this summer.
