Miguel’s Jr. quietly opened its 18th location last week.
It’s the chain’s second Norco location, and its first non-standalone location.
If you happen to be in the Norco/Corona area tonight (March 6), you’ve got your choice of free admission food truck events.
One is at Norco High School, 2065 Temescal Ave. The other is at Corona High School, 1150 W. Tenth St.
Both events are in conjunction with the schools’ open houses and run until 9 p.m.

We’re big fans of the Original Pancake House.
Unfortunately, the location in Riverside’s Adams Plaza was doomed by a dismal economy, a change of heart from a certain “neighborhood market” and a fickle university owner and closed at the end of 2011.
We’ve been waiting since August for the Original Pancake House to open in Norco, in a spot formerly occupied by Food Connection, and before that, Sizzler.
The restaurant, at 1750 Hamner Ave., finally opened last weekend.
Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The Inland Empire brewing scene continues to grow, with new breweries seemingly opening every week.
In addition to the recently-opened Donkey Punch Brewery and the currently-producing Ritual Brewing Co., both in Redlands, Sons of Liberty Aleworks opened in mid-September in Norco.
The brewery, at 1780 Town and Country Drive, Unit 101, is open noon to 4 p.m. Sunday; 4 to 9 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday; and 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday. It’s closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

High Desert folks will get their own brewery when Oak Hills Brewing Company finally opens its doors on November 16.

The bad news is that Norco location of Food Connection, which opened about a year and a half ago, has closed.
The good news is that work is progressing on its replacement, an Original Pancake House!
We’re big fans of the Original Pancake House and wept openly felt a little sad when the Riverside location shut down a while back.

No matter. We’re just glad there’s going to be a new location here in the Inland Empire.

At the end of last year, I mentioned that the former Bob’s Big Boy in Colton was being transformed into a Food Connection.
Reader Steve wrote, letting us know that a Food Connection was also moving into a former Sizzler location in Norco, at 1750 Hamner Ave., competing with a Polly’s Pies, which is right across the street.
Well, this week I finally made it out to Norco to check and…they’re already open!
That will make the Colton Food Connection their fourth location when it opens.
Question: What does Norco have that no other place in the world has?
Horses? Nope. Lots of places have horses. But you’re kinda close.
The Lake Norconian Club? Well, yes…but this is a food blog.
OK, then, Starbucks Coffee? That’s ridiculous. You know there’s a Starbucks on practically every corner in Southern California.
Fine. I give up. Sheesh, you give up easily.
The thing that Norco has that no other place in the world has…is a Western Bob’s Big Boy statue!
