Happy first anniversary to I & I Brewing!

Happy first anniversary to the fine folks over at the best little brewhouse in Chino, I & I Brewing.

The brewery opened its doors the first weekend of 2012.

Some of this weekend’s celebration are being kept secret, but details are slowly being revealed.

The brewery will be open a little early — at noon — on Saturday (January 5), the Garlic Scapes truck will be serving lunch and the Vizzi Truck will be serving dinner beginning at 5 p.m. A special beer will be tapped.

The first 200 guests will get an anniversary edition glass when they purchase a large taste.

Head to the Facebook event page for updates.

I & I Brewing is at 14175 Telephone Avenue, Suite J.

Growlers available at I & I Brewing

For those of you who have visited the best little brewery in Chino, I & I Brewing, and have wanted to bring some of that fresh brew home with you, your wish has been granted.

Growlers are now available for filling with select brews.

Which brews, you might ask?

Whatever the brewery has a backup keg of, which means the selection will vary from day to day.

We’re hoping for a backup keg of the Ginger Strong Ale soon.

Another cupcake open house tonight in Chino

In case you missed the last one, or just can’t get enough of delicious cupcakes, our friends over at [desi]gn cakes & cupcakes are hosting another open house from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight (March 12) at their commercial bakery, 13641 Central Ave., Suite F, in Chino.

Tonight’s available cupcake flavors will be French toast (maple-infused cakes with brown sugar cream cheese frosting, topped with bacon sprinkles), ShamROCK and Roll (chocolate stout cake filled with an Irish whiskey ganache and topped with Irish cream buttercream frosting), and another, yet to be determined, flavor.

I attended the open house last Monday and had a chance to taste the bakery’s two entries at this year’s L.A. Cupcake Challenge: Buffalo chicken and churro. Both were delicious!

Cupcake open house in Chino on Monday

Ever wonder what it’s like behind the scenes of a fantastic sweets factory?

Well, you’ll get your chance to check out an award-winning bakery on Monday (March 5) as our friends over at [desi]gn cakes & cupcakes open their doors for an open house.

And you don’t even need a golden ticket.

The bakery typically just does event catering, special event tastings and online sales of its cupcakes in a jar, so the open house will be a treat (pun intended) for those of us who have wanted to sample their wares.

The cupcake menu is still being decided, but one flavor that will definitely be available for purchase is the one they debuted at the L.A. Cupcake Challenge this year: Buffalo chicken!

The muchtalkedabout savory cake is made with polenta, ranch cream cheese, boneless chicken and Buffalo sauce.

The open house will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at their commercial bakery at 13641 Central Ave., Suite F, in Chino.

For more information, or to vote for a favorite cupcake flavor, head the open house’s Facebook event page.

Update: Three flavors will be for sale — Churro and the above-mentioned Buffalo chicken, both featured at the L.A. Cupcake Challenge, and banana cream pie.

Tommy Tuesday returning to the Inland Empire

Original Tommy’s continues to celebrate its 65th anniversary with a series of Tommy Tuesday deals at various locations.

Next week, Tommy Tuesday returns to the Inland Empire, with a twist.

Instead of the usual 99 chiliburgers deal, we’re getting 99 chili fries, which is just fine by me.

Tommy Tuesday will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. this Tuesday (October 11) at the Chino location, 12205 Mountain Ave., just north of the 60 Freeway.

All you have to do to get your deal is say the phrase “chili fry,” which, if you are ordering chili fries, would be a little tricky not to do.

There’s an extra charge if you want chili cheese fries, but it’s totally worth it in my book.

You can also pick up the deal at locations in Eagle Rock, Long Beach, Simi Valley and Westminster.

For more information, click here to get to the Facebook event page for next week’s Tommy Tuesday.
