Exactly one year ago today, we were telling you of the fourth annual Fontana Arts Festival and the fact that there would be food trucks at the event.
Well, this Saturday (July 27) is the fifth annual Fontana Arts Festival and food trucks are again going to be part of the festivities.

Boston’s Restaurant and Sports Bar doesn’t have a very big footprint in California.
In fact, there are just two locations: Rancho Cucamonga and Long Beach.
That number is about to increase 50%, as the chain is soon to open in north Fontana, just north of the 210 Freeway at Sierra Avenue.

McDonald’s is fêting its new Premium McWraps with a series of parties at Southern California restaurants.
The parties, which are being promoted on Twitter, begin tomorrow (April 2) and wrap up (get it?) on April 10.
Guests will be able to try Premium McWraps, play games, win prizes and hang out with friends and other McDonald’s Twitter fans.

Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, which currently has its sole California location at 12032 Amargosa Road in Victorville, is expanding to Fontana.
Checking their mobile website from my cell phone the other day, I noticed that there is a location “coming soon” to Fontana.
The address listed, 16205 Sierra Lakes Parkway, is a former Wienerschnitzel.

Sundowners Family Restaurant, home of insanely cheap food, is having an insanely cheap deal tomorrow (November 24) to celebrate its 31st anniversary: A half-pound sirloin steak dinner for a penny!
Of course, you have to buy one sirloin steak dinner at the regular price of $6.59 to get a second one for a penny, but still,two steak dinners for $6.60 is just plain crazy.
The dinners include Sundowner toast and your choice of baked potato, French fries, rice pilaf or mashed potatoes and gravy.
The offer is not available for take-out. Sundowners is cash only.
Sundowners has two locations: 1131 S. E St., San Bernardino and 8983 Sierra Ave., Fontana. Both are open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Happened to spot this post on Google+ earlier today.
See….Google+ is good for something.
The latest Inland Empire Five Guys Burgers and Fries is at 15218 Summit Ave., Fontana, in the Falcon Ridge shopping center.
So, head on over and pile your burger high with toppings.
And eat some peanuts while you’re at it.
The new location is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
In other Five Guys news, the on-again, off-again location in Hesperia (12795 Main St. in the High Desert Gateway shopping center) is on again, according to the chain’s locator map. The once-planned Victorville location is still off.
The fourth annual Fontana Arts Festival is this Saturday (July 28), and while I’ll probably enjoy browsing from the 50 artist booths and watching several performing artists, including the Lula Washington Dance Theatre and Cheng-Hsin Chinese Zither Orchestra of Los Angeles, you know what I’ll be most interested in.
Food trucks!
Our friends over at I.E. Gourmet Food Trucks are bringing three trucks to the event:
Oh, and did I mention it’s a free event?

Even as there are new restaurants popping up here and there, closings also seem to be happening fairly regularly.
In downtown San Bernardino, long-time (since 1953) establishment Nena’s Mexican Restaurant (their website is still up), 642 N. D St., has ceased operations.
The restaurant, which was sold by Nena herself a few years ago, had recently only been open at lunchtime and for special events.
At one time, the eatery was home to many a county employee birthday lunch. We used to do the same for Sun staffers, too, when we were still located downtown.
I can think of only three other sit-down restaurants downtown — Molly’s Cafe, Yum Yum, and Mardi Gras — when once there were many.
Speaking of Sun staffers, former Sun staffer Julie Farren wondered about a frequent haunt, Casa Sanchez, at 265 W. Highland Ave., in San Bernardino.
The restaurant closed abruptly and already has a real estate advertising banner stretched across it.
Signs advertising restaurant specials still hang in the window, but nothing to indicate why they closed.
So, if your dream is to own an old-school IHOP restaurant, now’s your chance!

NASCAR Hall of Famer Junior Johnson will be making a pair of appearances in the Inland Empire this week.
So what does this have to do with Dine 909?
Johnson is also part owner of Piedmont Distillers, a North Carolina-based craft spirits distillery.
In other words, he’s a moonshiner.
He’s meeting with fans in celebration of both the introduction of his legal moonshine here in California and this weekend’s final Pepsi Max 400 at the Auto Club Speedway.
He’ll be autographing bottles of Junior Johnson’s Midnight Moon and the limited-edition Midnight Moon Hall of Fame Collector’s Series at Stater Bros. markets in Fontana and Temecula.
From 4 to 6 p.m. tomorrow (October 5), Johnson will be at the Stater Bros. in the Sierra Crossroads, 11225 Sierra Ave. in Fontana. From 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday (October 6), he’ll be at the Stater Bros. at 31813 Temecula Parkway in Temecula.
For those of you unfamiliar with moonshine, “Midnight Moon is made from American corn, 80 proof and triple-distilled to deliver an ultra-smooth, clean tasting spirit that is often preferred
over the world’s best vodkas,” according to a press release.
The Midnight Moon Hall of Fame Collector’s Series was created to commemorate Johnson’s induction into the inaugural class of the NASCAR Hall of Fame earlier this year. Each of the six unique bottle designs features a collage of historic photos that document his racing career.
Drinking and driving don’t mix, but Johnson is proof you can have a successful career in both.
I’m sure Edie, the Egg Lady, would be aghast at the recent turn of events involving her precious ova.
But we here at Dine 909 want help calm your fears over the Salmonella outbreak.
Let’s look at the facts. Nationwide, an estimated 1,300 have been sickened, including as many as 60 people in Los Angeles County.
No cases have been reported in San Bernardino County.
A total of a half-billion eggs from two Iowan producers (initially Wright County Egg, now Hillandale Farms) have been recalled. This represents less than one percent of all U.S. eggs.
The recalled eggs were sold in California and 13 other states: Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin.
The basic advice?
If you’ve got eggs that have been recalled, don’t eat them!
Simple enough.
Return them to the store where you bought them for a refund.
