Loaf Love at Fontana Fiesta Foods Friday

After lamenting the lack of Loaf Love for the Inland Empire a few months back, it turns out that Tillamook will indeed be bringing some Loaf Love our way this week.

They’ve added two several Inland Empire dates to the Loaf Love Tour:

  • Noon to 7 p.m. Friday (March 19), Fiesta Food Warehouse, 16950 Foothill Blvd. (at Sierra Avenue), Fontana
  • Noon to 7 p.m. Monday (March 22), Fiesta Food Warehouse, 1578 W. Baseline (at Medical Center Drive), San Bernardino

Update: More dates have been added! Click here to see them!

It seems the modified VW microbuses will be flooring it in Fontana and steering into San Bernardino after all.

Unfortunately, no other Inland Empire dates appear to be scheduled during this “Los Angeles” leg of the Loaf Love Tour.

Coincidentally, on our trip to Costco the other day, we purchased some of that delicious Tillamook vintage white sharp Cheddar cheese. Mmm…tangy!

Did Dine 909 have any part in bringing the Loaf Love Tour to the Inland Empire? We’ll probably never know, but we’d like to think so.

You can thank us silently as you sample that yummy Tillamook cheese.

Pig out at the Pepsi 500

For those of you who love both NASCAR and food, have I got a deal for you!

As read in the number 3 item in Lou Brewster’s Fifth Gear column today, the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana is offering an all-you-can-eat “All Day Food Fest” pass for the October 11 NASCAR Sprint Cup Pepsi 500.

The wristband pass, which will cost $35 for those 13 and over ($20 for those 12 and under), is good for one entre, one snack and one non-alcoholic beverage each time through the line at participating eateries.

Of course, this is above and beyond your entrance fee to the raceway.

Concessions include Canter’s Deli (Got that, Kristen? Now’s your chance!), Gordon Biersch, Woodie’s, the Dog House, RPM BBQ, and the All American Grill.

Openings here (Redlands) and there (Fontana)

You would think that with the economy in the state it’s in now, nobody in their right mind would be opening new businesses.

Well, apparently restaurant owners are not in their right mind.

“Reader Bob” emailed us here at Dine 909 to tell us that Mentone’s Mill Creek Cattle Co. has expanded. Indeed they have. The sit-down restaurant now has a fast-food-type location, complete with drive-thru, at 2087 Orange Tree Lane in Redlands, just across California Street from the defunct Pharaoh’s Lost Kingdom.

So if you’re in the area (shopping at Wal-Mart, no doubt!) and are craving BBQ or burgers, be sure to check it out and let us all know how it was.

Thanks for the tip, Reader Bob!

Also, driving down Sierra Lakes Parkway in Fontana, I noticed that the Mimi’s Cafe at the corner of Sierra Avenue is soon to be open, and I also spotted the Dickey’s BBQ that is now hiring, so they should be open soon as well. Mimi’s is at 16933 Sierra Lakes Parkway. Dickey’s BBQ is just down the block closer to Citrus Avenue at 16391 Sierra Lakes Parkway.

Of course, the most surprising thing about this entry is not that there are three new restaurants in the Inland Empire.

It’s that Dine 909 has a reader!
