Black Angus and Del Taco celebrate golden anniversaries

Del Taco prize packCongratulations to two restaurant chains that turn 50 this year: Del Taco and Black Angus.

Black Angus has kicked off a yearlong celebration with a classic cocktail menu, featuring timeless libations such as Rob Roy, Old Fashioned, Sidecar, Whiskey Sour and Vodka Gimlet.

In addition, the classic cocktails are available for just $5 with the purchase of any entrée on Tuesdays. The steakhouse also will introduce limited time entrées and seasonal desserts throughout the year.

Del Taco, of course, was born in the Inland Empire, and is intertwined with the histories of Baker’s Drive-Thru, Taco Bell, Taco Tia and Naugles.

Dolce revamps its menu, hosts grand re-opening

About a month ago, Montclair’s Dolce closed its doors to prepare to launch a new menu.

The bakery and bistro is celebrating those changes (along with the end of a year-long expansion and remodel) with a grand re-opening celebration that will last through tomorrow (November 10).

The eatery is also re-branding itself as the city’s first gastropub. With 15 beers on tap, another 24 available in bottles and a fairly eclectic menu, I’d say that’s a pretty apt moniker.

Carlo’s Italian Bakery Pizza closes its doors

Carlo’s Italian Bakery Pizza may have closed its Montclair restaurant, but the business lives on.

A brief post on the business’ Facebook page from last Thursday explains that the restaurant is closed, but they will continue with catering and brewery events, including an event tomorrow (September 5) at Dale Bros. Brewery.

Not to infer any connection between the two events, but our very own Elaine “Lunch with ‘Lainey” Lehman wrote a favorable review of Carlo’s just a few weeks ago.

Auntie Anne’s helping raise funds to fight childhood cancer

AuntieAnnesALSFAuntie Anne’s is hoping to raise half a million dollars to help fight childhood cancer, and they need your help to do it.

Through October 15, the pretzel purveyor is selling lemon icons for $1, each of which contains a kid-friendly lemon joke and $1 off the purchaser’s next pretzel and drink.

Proceeds from the sales will benefit Alex’s Lemonade Stand, an organization which raises funds to help find a cure for childhood cancer.

But the fun doesn’t end there.

Pizza for Thanksgiving?

Who says you have to have turkey for Thanksgiving? Or even ham?

Some of my favorite holiday meals were homemade spaghetti or lasagne, made with love by Mom.

But how do you feel about pizza?

John’s Incredible Pizza (no relation), which gave us a scary good $5 deal on Halloween, is offering a similar deal for Thanksgiving.

For $7 per person, you and the family can have all the pizza, salad, soup, pasta, desserts and non-alcoholic beverages you want.

In the Inland Empire, the deal is only good at the Riverside and Montclair locations, so you Victorvillains will have to trek down the hill if you want this deal.

The deal is good from noon to 9 p.m. Thanksgiving day. No coupon is necessary.
