The Mug Shakes, a new dessert shop in the Victoria Gardens Food Hall, had a very successful soft opening over the weekend.
The shop experienced long lines of customers — perhaps due to the tantalizing pictures of its products (like the one on the right) that garnered thousands of reactions on Facebook — and ended up having to close early due to sell-outs.
The location, which specializes in designer shakes, has been closed for a few days to regroup, hire some more employees and will reopen at 10 a.m. on Thursday (May 5).

In years past, we’ve written about the annual
Dining Out For Life charity event, during which restaurants help raise money for AIDS service organizations.
Thus far, however, the focus has been on Palm Springs-area restaurants raising money for
Desert AIDS Project, which is great, but what about the rest of the Inland Empire?
Well…we’ve got good news: For the first time,
Foothill AIDS Project is going to be a beneficiary.
Reservations are now available for the next Let’s Dine Out Grub Club event set for 5 p.m. April 10 at Cachanilla Chinese Restaurant, 305 E. Holt Ave., Pomona.
The three-course meal consists of a pair of appetizers, a selection of nine entrées, and two desserts.
In honor of Pi Day, which took place earlier this week, the Claremont Pie Festival will be celebrated from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (March 19).
The annual festival, which will run along Second Street between Oberlin and Harvard avenues, will feature pie baking and eating contests, a recipe hunt, entertainment, a “kids korner” and a car show.
The Brick Market & Deli in Pomona — no stranger to hosting fundraisers — will have a multi-day fundraiser next week for Casa Colina Hospital and Centers for Healthcare.
The fundraiser will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday (March 23) through Friday (March 25).

Project Pie, the latest concept from MOD Pizza and Pieology founder James Markham, opened earlier this month in Chino Hills.
Other Southern California locations include San Diego, Chula Vista, Ladera Ranch and Carlsbad.
Project Pie customers can choose to build their own pizza, select one of eight pies with specific topping combinations, or start with one of those eight pies and customize.
A newcomer to the Inland Empire,
Pancheros Mexican Grill, has opened in Fontana.
The Chipotle-style chain opened Tuesday (March 15) at
16421 Sierra Lakes Parkway, Suite 300, in Fontana, just down from the newly-opened MOD Pizza.
MOD Pizza is opening its second Inland Empire location on Saturday (March 12).
The quick-serve pizzeria, which currently has a location
in the Mountain Grove shopping center near Redlands, will open at 16391 Sierra Lakes Parkway in Fontana.
Food truck fans, mark your calendar for Tuesdays.
That’s because Food Truck Tuesdays have returned to
Montclair Plaza, er, Place.
Last August, the mall
initiated its weekly food truck event, and ended up extending it through September.
It’s still nearly two weeks away, but reservations are going fast for the next
Let’s Dine Out Show’s Grub Club event.
The next dinner is set for 6 p.m. February 8 at
Spaggi’s Italian Grill, 1651 W. Foothill Blvd., Upland.
According to the Tweet below, only 14 seats remain as of Tuesday night.
The $43 cost per person is all-inclusive, and covers the food, tax, gratuity and non-alcoholic beverage.
