The Brick Market and Deli recently opened at 105 E. Arrow Highway (at Garey Avenue) in Pomona.

The Brick will be celebrating its grand opening Saturday (March 1) and will be holding a drawing for a Sony Blu-Ray player.

Help hungry folks, get free L.A. County Fair admission on Fridays

Here’s how you can have a great time at the Los Angeles County Fair for free, plus feel great knowing that you’ve helped feed hungry folks.

All you have to do is gather up five canned goods and bring ’em to the fair between noon and 5 p.m. on any Friday through September 27.

You’ll get a voucher for free fair admission.

It’s that simple.

Del Taco and Farmer Boys offering Wednesday L.A. County Fair deal

If you want to get your thrills at the Los Angeles County Fair and are looking to save a few bucks in the process, then be sure to stop by your local Del Taco or Farmer Boys first.

There, you’ll find coupons for a $25 fair admission and carnival ride wristband combo that’s good on any Wednesday during the fair’s run.

That’s a great deal, especially considering weekday fair admission is $12 for adults, and ride wristbands are normally $50 by themselves.

You can take that $37 savings and put it toward some Krispy Kreme Sloppy Joes from Chicken Charlie’s.

Cheers to learning at Fairplex on Saturday

Foodies won’t want to miss Saturday’s (June 22) Cheers event at Fairplex in Pomona.

Billed as “L.A.’s wine, spirits, beer and food festival,” the event showcases the award-winning wines, spirits, beers and olive oils of the Los Angeles International Competitions.

More importantly, it’s a fundraiser for educational programs at the Learning Centers at Fairplex, which offers educational programs for students of all ages and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Cal Poly Pomona’s Strawberry Festival is Saturday

Cal Poly Pomona’s annual salute to all things strawberry, the Tractor & Car Show and Strawberry Festival, takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the university’s Farm Store, 4102 S. University Drive.

The event is free. Parking is $3.

In addition to goodies like strawberry pie, strawberry jam, chocolate-dipped strawberries and strawberry-topped funnel cake, participants can also pick vine-ripened strawberries, beginning at 11 a.m.

Cal Poly Pomona’s Family & Friends Day event features food trucks and more

Just saw a Tweet from our friends from the My Delight Cupcakery truck. They are going to be one of the food trucks serving at Cal Poly Pomona’s Family & Friends Day event until 10 p.m. tonight (May 3).

The event will take place at Bronco Commons.

Admission is free, but parking is not. If you don’t have a parking permit, you must purchase a one-day pass ($5) or risk getting a ticket.
