It appears that Pick Up Stix may be the next restaurant to has joined Panera Bread in the new section of the Colonies Crossroads in Upland.
The chain is looking for experienced cooks and cashiers.
Open interviews will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. tomorrow (January 23) at the new location, 1053 E. 19th St., Suite B.

Shakey’s Pizza Parlor has decided to give its fans a little break tomorrow (January 21).
The pizzeria has posted a “Fan Appreciation” coupon for its famous Bunch of Lunch on its Twitter feed.
Coupon-holders will receive the all-you-can-eat meal for just $5.99 (with the purchase of a regular-sized beverage), a savings of $2 off the current price of $7.99.
Get to bed early Panera Bread fans, because the newest location opens tomorrow (December 20) in Upland.
The first 25 customers each day tomorrow through Sunday (December 22) will receive a stainless steel Panera Bread coffee mug and a voucher for free coffee for a week.
The location is also partnering with Second Harvest Food Bank. All customer donations to the Panera Cares Community Breadbox will go to the organization, and Panera will match a portion of those funds.

Upland’s Dale Bros. Brewery is teaming up with Ontario’s Drake Family Farms for a beer and cheese pairing event this Saturday (November 16).
For $13, participants will get a full cheese plate, plus a beer flight.
The pairing event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. at the brewery, 2120 Porterfield Way.
Local beer, local cheese…sounds like a win-win!

Update: Missed it by that much. If in the future, you are planning to shop at the new Sprouts, don’t head into the old fresh & easy location, because it won’t be there. Head slightly to the left, into the old Office Max spot next door, which shares the same address. Thanks to reader Diane who emailed us and gave us the info.
Well, that was quick.
Thanks to tipster Carl who let us know that the Foothill Boulevard fresh & easy in Upland that was one of the dozens of stores that closed back in September is being fashioned into a Sprouts Farmers Market.
No timeframe is given for the opening on the chain’s locator page other than “coming soon.”
The future Sprouts is at 829 W. Foothill Blvd.
In case you missed it, downtown Upland has lost one restaurant, is losing another, but is gaining a third.
Already closed is Aria Restaurant and Lounge, which was owned by the same folks who own Antonino’s Italian Restaurant, Haandi Indian Cuisine, Sixty 6 Sports Bar and Lounge and the Magic Lamp Inn in Rancho Cucamonga.
Facebook fan Diana reports that Charlie’s Red, White and Blue American Deli and Bar is moving into the space at 296 N. Second Ave.
It’s two, two, two festivals in one as Claremont Craft Ales and Upland’s Dale Bros. Brewery team up for Oktoberfest this Saturday.
Partnering with the breweries is Claremont Educational Foundation. The breweries will donate 10% of beer sales to the organization.
The event will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday (October 26).
A yellow school bus will shuttle participants between the two breweries every half hour.
This weekend — today in particular — seems to be the big weekend for German-style beer drinkin’ and eatin’.

In a sign that the economy still has some recovery to do, we’ve spotted four local restaurants that have closed in recent weeks.
Chino’s La Crêperie Café, an offshoot of the original in Long Beach’s Belmont Shores, has closed. The location, a former Black Angus, might’ve been just too large for La Crêperie. The original is a much more intimate location. Also, the owners have switched the small chain’s downtown Long Beach location from crepes to Mediterranean and dubbed it La Shish.
