Original Tommy’s continues to celebrate its 65th anniversary with a series of Tommy Tuesday deals at various locations.
Next week, Tommy Tuesday returns to the Inland Empire, with a twist.
Instead of the usual 99 chiliburgers deal, we’re getting 99 chili fries, which is just fine by me.
Tommy Tuesday will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. this Tuesday (October 11) at the Chino location, 12205 Mountain Ave., just north of the 60 Freeway.
All you have to do to get your deal is say the phrase “chili fry,” which, if you are ordering chili fries, would be a little tricky not to do.
There’s an extra charge if you want chili cheese fries, but it’s totally worth it in my book.
You can also pick up the deal at locations in Eagle Rock, Long Beach, Simi Valley and Westminster.

Two Inland Empire restaurants will be participating in a fundraiser today (September 29) to benefit the Coalition for Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Dine at either Corky’s Kitchen and Bakery, 6403 Haven Ave., Rancho Cucamonga, or Guasti Cafe, 13526 Central Ave., Chino, between 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 15% of your bill will be donated to the organization.
Pulmonary fibrosis is a disease characterized by progressive scarring of the lungs.

Another weekend, another food truck event, it seems.
The second Chino Valley Foodie Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (September 17) at Don Lugo High School, 13400 Pipeline Ave., Chino.
Pre-sale tickets are $6 and are available here. Tickets will be $8 at the door. Children five and under get in free.
The event is a fundraiser for the Chino Valley Unified School District.
The first festival, held in April, attracted more than 4,000 people and was the first (that I know of) food truck festival in the Inland Empire.
Fourteen gourmet food trucks are scheduled to serve up tasty treats at Saturday’s event, including the Ludo Truck, the Buttermilk Truck, Pie ‘N Burger, and Rancho Cucamonga’s Suite 106 Cupcakery.
The district will also present the annual State of the District with board president James Na.

It’s been open a couple of months now, but the Chino La Crperie Caf will be celebrating its grand opening on Thursday (May 19).
The best part? All menu items and alcoholic beverages will be half price!

The restaurant, 3968 Grand Ave., will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., will close for an hour in preparation for the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce Monthly Mixer from 5 to 7 p.m., when they’ll have a ribbon cutting.
The mixer is open to chamber members and non-members alike.
Regular restaurant seating will resume after 7 p.m.
And if you decide to have dessert, I wholeheartedly recommend the Martinique crpe. It’s delicious!
Newly-elected 2nd District County Supervisor Janice Rutherford is looking to bring the rapidly expanding food truck industry to San Bernardino County.
She has asked San Bernardino County Environmental Health Services staff members to
look into other nearby jurisdictions’ (i.e. L.A. and Orange counties’)
food truck regulations and operations to examine reversing a long-standing prohibition.
She has also announced what I believe is the first ever (apart from a few smaller events) food truck festival in the Inland Empire.
The Chino Valley Foodie Festival is scheduled for 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Don Lugo High School, 13400 Pipeline Ave., Chino.
It’s a great idea, and it’ll be the first exposure for lots of folks to these gourmet mobile eateries.

We’ve all read the stories about their budget woes.
The Tillamook Loaf Love tour rolled into town Friday, bringing cheesy goodness to the Inland Empire.
One of three simultaneous I.E. stops for the tour took place at the Fiesta Food Warehouse in Fontana. Other stops Friday were at Stater Bros. markets in Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario.
Today (March 20), the tour is scheduled to hit the following locations from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
- Chino: Stater Bros., 4721 Riverside Drive
- Claremont: Sprouts, 835 W. Foothill Blvd.
- Ontario: Stater Bros., 1105 W. Philadelphia St.
If you’re running in the L.A. Marathon on Sunday, you might see them there!
A third wave will hit Monday from noon to 7 p.m. at the following locations:
- Rialto: Stater Bros., 571 E. Foothill Blvd. and 168 E. Baseline.
- San Bernardino: Fiesta Food Warehouse, 1578 W. Baseline.
A relatively small affair, the crew made up for it in enthusiasm.
Along with samples of the medium and sharp Cheddar Baby Loaf cheeses, they handed out recipes and $1 off coupons for Tillamook cheese. Yum!
They also showed off their modified VW Microbus, Yum 2.
