The folks over at Vom Fass in Claremont have come up with a great way to wind down your week.
All month long, stop in the shop between 5 and 8 p.m. on Friday for an evening of wine-tasting. This Friday (August 14), the shop is showcasing great wines under $10. The cost of the wine-tasting is $5 and no reservation is required.

Wednesday evening was the big preview for Claremont Restaurant Week, and if the samples served during the kickoff is any indication, this is going to be one great culinary adventure!
Nearly two dozen restaurants have great prix fixe menus lined up for the third iteration of the event, which starts tomorrow (July 10) and runs through July 19.
Even restaurants beyond Claremont — including Pappas Artisanal in La Verne and Upland’s Pine Haven Cafe and Nuno’s Bistro & Bar — are getting involved.
Head over the jump for a list of participating restaurants.
Fun Belly Food Tours has recently begun walking food tours of Claremont.

In the past, we’ve mentioned the popular (and usually sold-out) Scotch whisky classes at Vom Fass in Claremont.
Well, next month the shop is upping the ante.
Scotch Master Stewart Laing will be visiting from Glasgow, Scotland, and spending two days at the shop conducting Scotch seminars and a teaching a Scotch class.
Laing has almost 50 years experience in the whisky business and recently started his own company — Hunter Laing & Co. Ltd. — with his two sons.
Claremont launches its second restaurant week today (July 14).
Unlike some of those other restaurant “weeks,” this one actually does last a week, coming to a close on Sunday (July 20).
However, based on what we sampled at the kickoff event this past Thursday, we wish it were longer.
Our friends at the Claremont Vom Fass are celebrating Father’s Day with a special treat.
The gourmet shop will be serving bite-sized portions of seared apricot waffles à la mode with whiskey cream, followed by a whisky tasting.
The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. today (June 15) at the shop, 101 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Suite C2-100.
Claremont’s Bert and Rocky’s Ice Cream Company is turning “sweet 16” and is throwing a party this Saturday (April 12)!
The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Claremont shop, 242 Yale Ave.
Claremont’s Vom Fass has posted its schedule for April, and it includes its popular wine, cheese and chocolate pairing event, as well as a new wine event.
The wine, cheese and chocolate pairing event takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 24.
The evening includes a collection of wines presented by Regal Wines, paired with an assortment of cheeses from Claremont’s Cheese Cave and delicious handmade chocolates from the Chocolate Angel.
For those of you (21 and older, of course!) who have missed out on the previous Scotch whisky classes at Claremont’s Vom Fass, you’ve got another chance.
The next class has been scheduled for 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday, February 6 at the shop, 101 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Suite C2-100.
