Eden Garden Fusion Grill, offering Mediterranean cuisine, opened in downtown Upland a couple of weeks ago.
The owners also operate Eden Garden eateries in Pasadena and Glendora.

Upland’s Ph Century has had a longstanding challenge — eat a six-pound bowl of ph, consisting of a pound of meat, two pounds of noodles and three pounds of broth in 30 minutes or less.
That was, until last Thursday.
Century’s six-pound ph bowl challenge was beaten, nay annihilated, by the Inland Empire’s one and only Naader “Freak8er” Reda.
The High Desert resident, you may recall, took second place in the professional eaters category in last week’s Farrell’s Ice Cream Eating Challenge.
For beating the challenge (in an amazing 17 minutes), Naader received $5 in gift certificates per the previous failed challengers (23, for a total of $115), an “I ph’d it up!” T-shirt and his meal for free.
The owners were so amazed by the feat, that they gave him a souvenir bowl and a free boba tea as well.
The victory is documented on Century’s Facebook page.
And so the challenge begins again.
If you think you can beat Century’s challenge, head to the restaurant, 1244 W. Foothill Blvd.
And make sure to bring your $5 to add to the pot.
Inland Valley Daily Bulletin Upland reporter Sandra Emerson has written that Boomers Coffeehouse in downtown Upland will close after making only about five rent payments in the past two years to its landlord, the City of Upland.
Boomers had been open for nearly 19 years.
Boomers’ last day is set for Saturday (July 21). The coffeehouse will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the owners are inviting loyal customers down for a closing celebration.

Upland’s Pine Haven Cafe, which opened three weeks ago, must’ve had a bumpy three weeks.
The owner posted on Facebook yesterday that the restaurant will close temporarily to retrain and reorganize.
The restaurant will reopen at 7 a.m. on Thursday, June 14. A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held with the Upland Chamber of Commerce from 5 to 7 p.m. that evening.
Pine Haven Cafe is at 1191 E. Foothill Ave., inside the GuestHouse Hotel and Suites.

Food truck advocate Rob Perhamus is fighting the good fight to bring food trucks to San Bernardino County.
And specifically to Upland, where he lives.
Perhamus made a presentation last week to the Upland Planning Commission regarding the mobile eateries. The commission would be the determining body which would regulate when and where the trucks could operate.

Flamingo Palms has moved closer to where the action is. The Cuban cafe has moved from 9223 Archibald Ave. to 11400 Fourth St., a spot once occupied by Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe. It’s a cute location…tried their papas rellenas and an order of croquetas. Looking forward to returning and trying more.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. on A Street, between Second and Third avenues.
(That’s “A Street,” not a street, which could be anywhere, really. Confusing, I know.)
Tickets for the 21-and-over event are $35 and available at the Upland Chamber of Commerce office, 215 N. Second Ave.

I’m not the walrus, but they are the eggmen (and eggwomen)!
And they will be “Smokin’ it SoCal Style” yet again at the fourth annual Southern California EggFest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (May 19) at Cable Airport, 1749 W. 13th St., Upland.
What’s an EggFest?
An EggFest is an barbecue social event that showcases the Big Green Egg, billed as the “world’s best grill and smoker.”
The Big Green Egg is a ceramic cooker designed after 3,000-year-old Japanese “kamado” cooking pots.
EggFest events, which are held throughout the country, are a chance for Big Green Egg owners to share food, recipes and techniques and to allow prospective owners and others to experience the Egg firsthand.

It seems like just about every week there’s another food truck festival rolling into the Inland Empire, at least according to this blog.
Well, this week, there is another food truck festival rolling into the Inland Empire.
It happens to be in support of the Upland High School Regiment Band.
The UHRB Food Truck Frenzy will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (February 18) at Cable Airport, 1749 W. 13th St. in Upland.
Admission is only $5 and kids under five are free.
It’s a medium-sized event, so if you’re new to this sort of thing, it’s a great opportunity to give it a try without biting off more than you can chew.

The Inland Valley will see three major food truck festivals before summer even begins.
We’ve already mentioned the Palm Springs Food Truck Festival, being curated by Cliff Young, host of KVCR-TV’s Out to Eat show.
That event is gathering steam and new trucks daily, with Inland Empire-based Where’s the Fire Pizza truck, along with India Jones Chow Truck, Frysmith, Piaggio on Wheels, the Vizzi Truck and Waffles de Liege among the 36 announced participants.
The event is being held February 4 at the Spa Resort Casino. General admission tickets are $10.
The first Inland Valley event will take place a couple of weeks later, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. February 18 at Cable Airport in Upland.
The UHRB Food Truck Frenzy is a fundraiser for the Upland Highland Regiment Band. Tickets are $5.
Details are still a little sparse, but a flier announces a Dale Bros. Brewery beer garden and 21 “subject to change” trucks, including Don Chow Tacos, the Lime truck, the Bun Truck and Meet n’ Potatoes.
