Farrell’s returning to Riverside

Back in its heyday, Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour had a location in Riverside, on Magnolia Avenue behind what was then Tyler Mall, a location which eventually became a Coco’s.

Today we discovered via Nancy Luna’s Fast Food Maven blog, that Farrell’s is returning to Riverside!

It’ll be just down the street from the old location, at 3610 Park Sierra Drive, in what used to be a Black Angus Steakhouse.

At 8,700 square feet, the new location will be the largest for the reborn chain.

The new location is projected to open in the fall.

Update: Farrell’s is currently seeking management positions for the new location, and will begin taking applications for other locations beginning in late September or early October.

They are looking to hire more than 130 employees.

la Minute now open Sundays, serving affogatos

Not that we needed another excuse to head on over to Redlands’ “modern creamery,” la Minute, but the shop is now open on Sundays, at least temporarily.

And as if that weren’t enough, they are serving affogatos on Sundays, made with espresso from Augie’s Coffee House.

What’s an affogato? Ice cream (or gelato) that’s “drowned” in espresso. And with la Minute and Augie’s involved, I’m sure it’s like heaven in a cup. Oh, there’s a video here.

We might as well just move in.

la Minute, 19 E. Citrus Ave., No. 105, is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Sundays.

Gina Elise works tirelessly to lift the spirits of veterans and active duty military through her Redlands-based Pin-Ups For Vets charity.

She has traveled to veterans hospitals and military bases, both at home and abroad, spending time with wounded veterans, making monetary contributions to veterans healthcare and hand-delivering and autographing her pin-up calendars, posters and T-shirts.
