Jersey Mike’s opening in Montclair tomorrow with fundraiser

Upland has one. So does Pomona. Starting tomorrow (May 18), Montclair will have a Jersey Mike’s Subs, too.

The new location, 9359 Central Ave., Suite B, is hosting a fundraiser through May 27.

The sandwich shop distributed thousands of fliers with various offers and will donate $3 for each offer redeemed. Recipients are the Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and the American Youth Soccer Organization.

You can help Stamp Out Hunger on Saturday

Stamp Out Hunger 2016The National Association of Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger food drive, the largest single-day food drive in the country, returns this Saturday (May 14).

It’s simple to participate! Just root through your pantry and gather some non-perishable items (please make sure that they’re not expired and avoid glass containers) and bag them up.

Then just put them by your mailbox before the carrier comes on Saturday.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf debuts cookie butter beverages, hosting open house Thursday

Coffee Bean Cookie ButterApparently, cookie butter is the new pumpkin spice.

The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has debuted its new holiday beverages: Cookie Butter Latte and Cookie Butter Ice Blended.

The new beverages are made with espresso, brown sugar and gingerbread, and topped with cinnamon sugar.

Also returning for the holidays are the chain’s Winter Dream Tea Lattes, Peppermint Mocha Lattes and Ice Blended drinks, Peppermint Hot Chocolate and Red Velvet Hot Cocoa.

The Coffee Bean will be showcasing the new cookie butter beverages, as well as the Winter Dream Tea Lattes and the Peppermint Mocha Lattes and Ice Blended drinks during a holiday beverage tasting event from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday (November 5).

Inland Empire again ranks low for foodies

Once again, a website has determined the Inland Empire is a wasteland for foodies.

As you may recall, back in 2013, the real estate site Movoto posted on its blog — known for its myriad “top ten” lists — a list of “America’s Worst Cities for Food Lovers,” based on such criteria as food trucks, ice cream shops, caterers and gourmet grocers per capita.

Guess what? San Bernardino was at the top of that list.

Recently, in conjunction with World Food Day (October 16), the personal finance website WalletHub took the 150 most populous U.S. cities and ranked the “Best and Worst Foodie Cities for Your Wallet.”

Surprise! San Bernardino wasn’t at the bottom of the list. That distinction goes to another Inland Empire city: Moreno Valley.

However, San Bernardino didn’t rise too far from the bottom, ranking number 137.
