The bone of contention at one point seemed to be signage (or lack thereof), since the location was not in the center next to the 210 Freeway, but in the center next to the center next to the 210 Freeway.
Eventually, the site got sold to the owners of the center next to the 210 Freeway, so a freeway-adjacent sign could be posted and everyone lived happily ever after.
Two years later, construction finally began on the restaurant, and it's been going great gangbusters, with an expected opening in March.
The Highland In-N-Out is at 28009 Greenspot Road.

Construction went fast and furious on the new downtown San Bernardino In-N-Out Burger at 795 W. 5th St., at H Street.
So fast, in fact, that the old location at 190 Bungalow Court, off Second Street, will shut down tonight and the new location will open in the morning.
The new location, as the old one, will open at 10:30 a.m. daily, and close at 1 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 1:30 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The new location includes inside seating.

The old-school Denny's at 510 W. Orange Show Road has been shuttered.
Apparently it's been closed for weeks. I just noticed this weekend.
It's a shame. That particular location, despite being a little rough around the edges, was the one I went to most often.
That leaves San Bernardino with "only" three Denny's: Highland Avenue (at Valencia Avenue), Palm Avenue (at I-215) and Rosewood Drive (off Tippecanoe Avenue).
Guess I'll have to find another location for my Moons Over My Hammy fix.

Redlands Daily Facts reporter Kristina Hernandez was at the Stater Bros. Route 66 Rendezvous this afternoon and spotted the one of the Oscar Meyer Wienermobiles.
Turns out that the RELSHME Wienermobile be available for souvenir photos and they'll be handing out wiener whistles until 9 p.m. tonight, and presumably, through the run of the Rendezvous.
According to their locator map, they're on Court Street, between D and E streets.
Of course, this isn't the first time a Wienermobile has been in San Bernardino. Several years back, I took this photo of one as its crew refueled at the University Parkway Chevron station.

I've been noticing a flurry of construction at the corner of Fifth and H streets in downtown San Bernardino, where the Paradise Motel once stood.
Naturally, I was curious as to what was being built there.
The answer came this week as a sign went up indicating that it was the home of a new In-N-Out Burger.
Construction is moving fast and furious on the new location.
The plan is to move in to the new location n out of the current downtown location, 190 Bungalow Court, a mere three blocks south of the new one. In-N-Out hasn't set a date for the relocation.
The relocation came as kind of a surprise, since the planned (and highly anticipated) Highland and Rialto locations remain untouched.

Not going to the Inland Empire Food Truck Fest this Saturday? You're still gonna need to eat.
And you might as well help some folks out while you do it.
The Women's Club of San Bernardino is hosting an enchilada dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday (June 18) at their clubhouse, 503 W. 31st St.
The $10 cost of your dinner will go to a fund that will be used to repair the clubhouse roof.
I know the roof still needs repair because I see the tarp covering it every day on my way to work.
You can even build your own sundae for dessert!
For information or tickets, please call 909-882-0440.
