I've been wanting to try Euro Grill in Redlands for a while now.
Monday I finally got the chance.
They specialize in pizzas, pasta and Mediterranean dishes: falafel, gyros, kabobs, shawarma and the like.
Befitting the name of the restaurant, their pizzas are named for European cities and their pastas are mostly named for European countries.
For my first visit, I decided to try try the "Spain" pasta.

Spurred on by a "Grand Opening" ad (although I think they've been open a while) in The Sun, I wanted to check out Phoenicia, which has two locations in Redlands.
So, after going to hear Dustin Lance Black speak at the University of Redlands, a friend and I went over to the Orange Street location (near Trader Joe's).
Phoenicia bills itself as having Greek and Lebanese cuisine. The ad mentioned a falafel sandwich combo ($5.95), which is what I ordered.
My friend ordered one of the specials, the lamb plate ($8.95).
The Orange Streeet location is a decently-sized restaurant, and a fairly well-appointed for a place where you order at a counter and the food is brought to your table.

Greek Festivals = Greek food.
Greek food = yum!
My favorite Greek food is probably the glykismata -- the desserts.
If you also crave Greek food, you can get your fix during the 11th annual Greek Festival this weekend at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 1391 Chaffee St., Upland.
Hours will be 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Happy hour -- with $2 off dinners and $1 off alcoholic drinks -- is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Admission to the festivities is $2, with children 12 and younger admitted free.
Parking will be available on Ninth Street between Campus and Grove avenues.
Some of the proceeds from the festival will help offset major operating expenses including the renovation of the church's interior that was damaged by a 2009 fire.

My Big Fat Greek Dinner only consisted of a salad, but oh, what a salad it was!
I ordered a falafel salad, which consisted of greens, thin-sliced cucumber, onion, tomato, Kalamata olives, feta cheese, oregano and, of course, sliced falafel. It came with a delicious, but not overpowering, lemony Greek dressing and lemon slices. It was also accompanied by a pepperocini and some warm pita bread slices.
It was the most flavorful salad I've had in a very long time.
My dining companion had a pastrami sandwich that was big enough for two meals, and we split an order of house-made onion rings.
Everything was delicious, and the customer service was fantastic.
Even though it was our first time there, Nick and company made us feel like we were longtime customers.
Of course, Dine 909 has company in enjoying the food at the Fat Greek. Sometimes it takes us a while to get with the program, though.
Unfortunately, we were too full to try one of the delicious-looking desserts. Perhaps next time, which I'm sure will be very soon.
The Fat Greek is at 33265 Yucaipa Blvd. in Yucaipa. Their website contains a wealth of information, including a full menu (exactly the same as in the restaurant), coupons and a mouth-watering photo gallery.

So I was watching Cliff Young's Out to Eat show on KVCR the other day, and one of the segments he had was on The Fat Greek in Yucaipa.
Looked like an interesting place...someplace I'd want to check out the next time I'm in that neck of the woods.
So imagine my surprise when I saw which restaurant Allan Borgen was reviewing in today's paper.
Yep, The Fat Greek!
Coincidence? Perhaps.
But guess who was the first to review it? Neither Cliff nor Allan, but Elaine "Lunch with 'Lanie" Lehman!
Back in April, Elaine stopped in for lunch at The Fat Greek and wrote a review.
Way to go, Elaine!
