Galco’s Summer Soda Tasting to focus on root beer this year

Summer Soda Sampling 4We’ve mentioned in the past that there are some things worth heading out of the Inland Empire for and one of those things is Galco’s Soda Pop Stop in Highland Park.

While the store (and its hundreds of soda varieties) is worth visiting any time, the last few years the store has hosted a great summer soda tasting event, which doubles as a fundraiser.

This year, the focus is on root beer. The store will have more than 75 varieties of root beers, birch beers and sarsaparillas available for sampling.

Last weekend to try to qualify to win a year’s worth of Farrell’s Ice Cream

Farrell's Ice Cream Eating ChallengeSunday (July 13) is the last day to head to a participating Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour restaurant to try to qualify in the chain’s ice cream eating challenge.

Individual challengers can try to qualify by paying $20 (proceeds benefit CHOC Children’s and Make-A-Wish). Challengers will receive a three-scoop sundae, a limited-editon Farrell’s Ice Cream Challenge shirt and a $5 coupon, good on a future visit.

Redlands Pieology’s three-day pizza giveaway begins Sunday

Pieology RedlandsJust as it did with its Rancho Cucamonga pizzeria, Pieology is gearing up for three days of pizza giveaways as a kind of a stress test as a preamble to its Redlands store opening.

On Sunday (July 13), giveaway times are brief and limited to the pizzeria’s “menued” pizzas from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 3:30 to 4:15 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:15 p.m.

N7 Creamery celebrating grand opening this weekend

[N7] Creamery has been open for a little while now, but the bakery/coffeehouse/liquid nitrogen ice cream shop is celebrating its grand opening this weekend.

In fact, the festivities have already begun.

An art walk is going on until 10 p.m. tonight (July 11). More than a dozen artists are participating in the event.

Krispy Kreme to celebrate 77th birthday with 77¢ second dozen Friday

It seems like a lot of eateries are celebrating anniversaries this month and last. Here’s another to add to the list: Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.

The chain will celebrate its 77th anniversary on Friday (July 11).

That day, guests can receive a dozen original glazed doughnuts for just 77¢ when they purchase any dozen at regular price.

The chain’s sole Inland Empire location is at 4485 Mills Circle.

Celebrate Shakey’s Pizza Parlor’s 60th anniversary with a free slice on Monday

Farrell’s fundraiser for family of SBPD Officer Shaun Jarvis is today

Farrell's Shaun Jarvis FundraiserThe Rancho Cucamonga Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour Restaurant is hosting a fundraiser today (June 30) for the family of San Bernardino Police Officer Shaun Jarvis.

Jarvis was killed in an off-duty motorcycle accident on the 91 Freeway in Corona back in May.

To participate, simply print out the flier (at right) and bring it to the restaurant, 10742 Foothill Blvd., between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., and Farrell’s will donate 25% of your bill to the cause.
