Wienerschnitzel celebrates anniversary with 99¢ hot dogs

Wienerschnitzel anniversaryWienerschnitzel is celebrating its 54th anniversary — Der fun since ’61, right? — tomorrow (July 19), but its the chain’s fans who are getting the presents.

You see, guests can get an original chili, kraut or mustard dog for just 99¢ at participating locations on that day.

While you’re there, you might as well pick up an old-fashioned sundae — the Tastee Freez deal of the day — for just $1.99.

Wienerschnitzel locations can be found throughout the Inland Empire.

San Bernardino Jimmy John’s set to open Tuesday

Jimmy John's San BernardinoWe’ve known about the San Bernardino Jimmy John’s since we spotted it in mid-May, and initially was told it was set to open in the first part of June.

Well, it turns out that timeline was a little optimistic.

The eatery, 1060 Harriman Place, Suite C5, is now set to open on Tuesday (July 21).

The franchise owners have another location in the works.

Galco’s fifth summer soda tasting is Sunday

Galco's Summer Soda Tasting 5I’ll be the first to admit that the Inland Empire doesn’t have everything.

And one of the things it doesn’t have is Galco’s Soda Pop Stop.

You see, Galco’s is home to hundreds of soda varieties from the U.S. and around the world, and it’s the “around the world” part that’s the focus of Galco’s fifth summer soda tasting event.

The “Around the World in 80 Sips” event is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday (July 19), featuring samples of sodas from Japan, France, Italy, Hawaii, England, New York and many other locales.

Claremont Restaurant Week begins tomorrow

Claremont Restaurant WeekWednesday evening was the big preview for Claremont Restaurant Week, and if the samples served during the kickoff is any indication, this is going to be one great culinary adventure!

Nearly two dozen restaurants have great prix fixe menus lined up for the third iteration of the event, which starts tomorrow (July 10) and runs through July 19.

Even restaurants beyond Claremont — including Pappas Artisanal in La Verne and Upland’s Pine Haven Cafe and Nuno’s Bistro & Bar — are getting involved.

Head over the jump for a list of participating restaurants.

Let’s Dine Out Show’s Grub Club sells out…in a good way

If you were thinking about making reservations for the next Let’s Dine Out Show Grub Club event—  set for September 17 at the Grand Oak Steakhouse in Cherry Valley — you’re too late.

The event was announced in the early part of June and all reservations — more than 100 — were gone in just a couple of weeks.

A second date at the steakhouse was floated as a possibility, but apparently won’t happen.

It appears the next event is being planned for Mantra Indian Cuisine in Corona, a restaurant recently featured on the Let’s Dine Out Show radio program.

Blaze Pizza giving away pizzas at its new Victoria Gardens location Friday

Blaze PizzaBlaze Pizza has arrived in Rancho Cucamonga’s Victoria Gardens and — as is tradition with the “fast fire’d” chain — it’s celebrating with a giveaway.

The pizzeria opens Thursday (June 11) and is giving away a free pizza on Friday (June 12) to followers of its social media feeds on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. And, no, you won’t get three free pizzas for following on all three.

The giveaway takes place from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at the new location, 7833 Monet Ave.

Blaze also has locations in Riverside and Cabazon, and is opening soon in Eastvale.

Tour de Fork fundraiser returns to Victoria Gardens next week

Tour de Fork 2015The Tour de Fork is returning for a third “tine” to Victoria Gardens in Rancho Cucamonga. The fundraising event is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday (June 11) along the center’s South Mainstreet.

I’ve been able to attend both previous events and have enjoyed myself immensely. The 21-and-older event showcases restaurants located both at Victoria Gardens and in the surrounding area.

Past events have also offered sneak peeks at soon-to-open eateries, with Slater’s 50/50, [N7] Creamery and No Clue Craft Brewery all having previewed at the event.

New this year is Blaze Pizza, which happens to be opening at Victoria Gardens the same day.
