IHOP’s National Pancake Day gets a celebrity push

Who’s ready for free pancakes?

Apparently Kiss’ Gene Simmons is.

He’s just one celebrity who’s helping promote IHOP’s National Pancake Day, which this year takes place on Tuesday, February 5.

Several stars from far-flung corners of the entertainment world have lined up to film promos for the fundraiser, which benefits Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

IHOP is setting the bar high again for this year’s fundraising campaign, hoping to raise another $3 million for the organization, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The chain raised over $3 million last year and over $10 million since starting the campaign in 2006.

The concept is simple. Just show up at your favorite local IHOP between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. on February 5, get a free short stack of IHOP’s famous buttermilk pancakes and leave a donation for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Leading up to National Pancake Day, IHOP guests can purchase $1 or $5 “Miracle Balloons,” which also support the organization. The $5 balloons have a $5 coupon which can be redeemed on a future visit.

Stolen base last Thursday = free Doritos Tacos Locos today

You can thank (or blame) the San Francisco Giants’ Angel Pagan for this one.

Because Angel stole a base during game two of the recently concluded World Series, Taco Bell will be giving away a Doritos Locos Taco to anyone who visits a participating location between 2 and 6 p.m. today (October 30).

Yeah, it’s a pretty tenuous link between a stolen base and a “stolen” taco, but whatevs.

Taco Bell locations can be found throughout the Inland Empire.

The chain is promoting it with a #CofFREEDay hash tag on Twitter.
