Andruw Jones just can't catch a break
They can't boo him during the game today, because he isn't in the starting lineup. But they got their chance between the top and bottom of the first inning, when several Dodgers players were shown on the leftfield DodgerVision board, each one individually wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day. When Andruw came on to wish everyone a Happy Mother's Day, he was, of course, booed. Real nice.

Are we suppose to cheer him?
Ignore him?
Chant his name vigorously when he fans at yet another breaking ball down and away?
The man should demote HIMSELF to Las vegas, so that he could get his stoke and his confidence back on some easier pitching.

Just a thought: I wonder if Ned even takes it personally that Jones gets booed at home after all the money he's wasted on him and others. I'm sure he thinks the booing is "just part of the game" in a 162 game season.
I personally would never waste my time booing ANYONE at a ballgame, but one has to wonder if the boos are really just for Jones or for Jones & Colletti together. Jones being a symbol of Colletti's ineptitude.
Maybe they should do a test for Father's Day and put both Colletti and Jones on the screen (seperately) and see who gets the more hellacious round of boos. Purely for market research of course.
Tony... in case you didn't catch TJ's article today... his view of the fans role in his earning a paycheck doesn't seem to register with him... and as the article points out... Jones simply doesn't care.
So why I ask should we?
I tend to agree that Jones should use a rehabilitation assignment of some length, for whatever official reason they can find, to get him to find his stroke/swing back. And I suppose people do have a right to boo. BUT booing him on the Mother's Day video today was particularly classless. Period. I don't care how badly a guy is performing, there is no reason to be so heartless and cruel. I'm sure the booer's mothers must be very proud.
That's separate from the issues of how to get Jones back on track, if it's possible. I also think there's a little bit of a misconception that he doesn't care. Is that because he's smiling all the time? There is clearly something wrong, and if people need to boo, we can't stop them -- the only that will is Jones getting his act together. But I hope people feel good about themselves when they boo. It does nothing for me.
Why are you people so sensitive? Booing Jones was part of the fun of going to the game as I gleefully did yesterday. He isn't producing, and doesn't care. It doesn't matter if it was Mother's Day. I assume most people root for the Dodgers as a diversion from their day to day life. So, booing is a right everyone has who buys a ticket.
