Tonight’s lineups — for BOTH teams

Although I learned many years ago to never fill out my scorecard this far in advance of game time, because when you do, it’s all but guaranteed that someone will be late scratch, and you will have to get out the whiteout. But these are the lineups as of right now, three hours, 38 minutes before first pitch.

Izturis. 3B
Aybar. SS
Anderson. LF
Guerrero. RF
Hunter. CF
Kotchman. 1B
Kendrick. 2B
Mathis. C
Weaver. RHP

Pierre. LF
Ethier. RF
Martin. C
Kent. 2B
Loney. 1B
Kemp. CF
DeWitt. 3B
Berroa. SS
Billingsley. RHP

Tony, who will likely be sent down when Garciaparra, Jones and Furcal return? Will they demote Maza and Berroa with the hope that Nomar can spell Furcal when (should) they return or will one of the 3B’s be demoted to the minors?

Is Delwyn now in a regular platoon and what makes Torre think that Pierre isn’t the one who needs to be benched given how he’s hitting ~60 points below his lifetime average against righties? And is this the end of Sweeney?

My guess is your last sentence at least partially answers the question you pose in your first sentence. But again, that’s just a guess — and a sad one, at that. I really like Mark Sweeney, the ultimate professional and always fan- and media-friendly, but there comes a time for every player when … well, you know.
