Dodgers 0

It's getting to a point where it doesn't even matter who many runs the other team scores. Dodgers have now gone 23 innings without scoring, and they have scored one run in their past 27 innings. The most life they showed all night was in the bottom of the eighth, when Cory Wade hit Carlos Guillen on the right upper arm and Guillen started jawing at him. Wade, the rookie, pointed at first base, as if to tell Guillen, the veteran, to shut up and take his base. Both benches and bullpens quickly emptied, but Wade and Guillen never got close to each other, and both stayed in the game. Wade then gave up a two-run homer to Magglio Ordonez, but that was all moot. This one was over from the moment Marcus Thames went yard to lead off the fifth, giving the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Then again, maybe it was over before it started. ... Dodgers fall to 31-36, a season-worst five games below .500. Snakes are scoreless, but they're hosting the Royals, so ... Oh, and the Giants are hosting Oakland tonight, and if they win, they'll be just a half-game behind the Dodgers.

The Diamondbacks poor play of late is the only excuse Colletti has to be sitting on his hands and not doing something substantial to help this team. I kinda wish AZ were up 8 or 9 games right now... he'd have more pressure on him. But sadly, he has a false sense of security knowing the Dodgers are only five back. You'd like to think the GM would worry about HIS team and not "Standings-Watch" the NL West. The Giants catching the Dodgers should be a source of embarrassment for Colletti. It isn't, but it should be.

I wonder what Ned's excuse is going to be when they pass the Dodgers this weekend....

I just want to know which Tiger matched up with Broxton.

I like Cory Wade. When he hit either Stephen Drew or Willy Taveras (I've forgotten which), he got a reaction from the guy so he clutched a certain part of his anatomy and made a highly rude suggestion. You don't want to get hit, get off the damn plate.

Actually, if the DBacks were running away with it, Colletti would be forced to realize that he is not running a contender and would have to position himself to be a seller when the deadline approaches. Kent to a contender? He won't be pleasant if the Dodgers are out of it as his career comes to an end and the Yankees could use him as a RH 1B. Someone take Pierre off his hands? Something better than the two draft picks he'll get when Lowe goes free agent? Mark Sweeney for Travis Denker; oh, wait.

The Vero Beach Curse is here! The Dodgers might never score another run. I warned you back in March--the Dodgers leaving Vero Beach will never win anything as long as McCourt is owner. Believe it; the VB Curse is here to stay!

The past 20 yrs. the Dodgers have won division titles & wild cards DodgerDave--but now with the Vero Beach Curse they won't even win those not to mention pennants or World Series. As long as McCourt is at the helm this franchise is doomed. The VB Curse is here to stay, get used to it. This team is cursed--Colletti will keep signing flops (over $50 million on the DL now with Nomar, Fatso Jones, Schmidt, Furcal, and don't forget their still paying Bill Meuller). This team is a mess & will stay that way because of the VB Curse. Yes, my little dodger disciple DodgerDave the VB Curse lives!
