Hu optioned, Gordon signed
The Dodgers did the best thing they possibly could have done for Chin-lung Hu today, shipping him and his .159 average to Las Vegas. Corresponding move will come tomorrow. Guessing it's Andy LaRoche unless there is another trade in the offing -- or unless Rafael Furcal talks his way into an early return, which probably wouldn't be a wise move. ... Also, shortstop Devaris Strange-Gordon, the Dodgers' fourth-round draft pick out of Southeastern University in Florida and the son of Phillies reliever Tom Gordon, agreed to terms today. Believed to be for somewhere around $225,000.

Where is David Ortiz or Josh Beckett in this e-mail on what is supposed to be a day off?
As Sparky said, "I always try to be fair with the () writers!"
Diamond Leung confirmed that LaRoche is on the way. He packed his bags and left Vegas.
You got me, Greg. No Ortiz or Beckett this time. Guess you'll just have to settle for LaRoche. And one of these days, I really AM going to take a day off.
I like the idea of having a versatile 1B/3B right hander available to spell either DeWitt or Loney vs lefties. It sounds like LaRoche's new positions will give him a good opportunity to see the field so this doesn't seem like it will a wasted call up of a young player who will rot on the bench. Appears that he may also play some 2nd base too. Hopefully his defense isn't a hindrance when he is in their playing either 1st or 2nd.
I'm a huge Hu fan, but this move was long overdue, along with promoting LaRoche. I wonder if LaRoche play mostly at third, second, first, or left field?
