Tigers 12, Dodgers 7

| | Comments (7) |

The Dodgers finally broke out and scored some runs -- and their pitching completely collapsed. Whatever is wrong with Brad Penny seems to be anyone's guess at this point. He was perfect through two, shaky through three and long gone through four, having been lit up for seven earned runs on seven hits over 3 2/3. Scott Proctor wasn't much better, although three of the four runs he gave up over the next two innings were unearned. I'm sure when we get down to the clubhouse in a few, somebody is going to tell us that it's early. But the Dodgers, who fell to 31-37, are 13 games away from the halfway mark. If this is going to turn around, it needs to turn around QUICKLY. ... Snakes play later, but again, they're hosting the Royals, so it seems rather bleak.

Tony, it's probably beyond me to figure out what's wrong with Penny, but since something has clearly been off with him most of the season, save for a few games, do you think the Dodgers could "phantom"DL him with some arm ailment to give him a rest and time to figure out what's wrong with him? Putting him out there every time seems like basically an automatic loss every time. For once the team scored some runs today and they still had no chance because Penny gave them none. Do you think they will try to either DL him or move him soon?

They have Kuo as a good option, or Park, or maybe sometime soon Schmidt. They need someone who can give them a chance to win, and Penny ain't it right now.

Thanks for whatever you discover!

Well, now it sounds like the Dodgers won't even need to "phantom" DL him, as he's reporting some shoulder problems. NOW he tells us. At any rate, they need to DL him, and not start him again for awhile.

The time may be nearing to clean house with the exception of Kershaw, Martin, Billingsley, Loney, and Kemp. Not sure what Colletti's doing at the moment, with the exception of taking orders from McCourt.

No phantom DL here. I just posted the Penny saga in detail.
