Today's lineup: the fallout of Kemp's absence

| | Comments (12) |

With Kemp out, Joe decided NOT to start Danny Ardoin despite Kuroda's recent success with him catching because Joe didn't want to take both Kemp's and Martin's bats out of the lineup. So, Russ is playing. And because it's a day game after a night game, Kent is resting.

Man, bummer. I was hoping to see Andy get the nod at second today with Maza quickly approaching the Mendoza line. Atleast Rus is in there but with both Kemp, and Kent gone, I'd have liked to see LaRoches bat in there. Especially against Peavy. And if I see Peavy's annoying fistpump today, I hope he gets a fastball in the ribs. I hate that guy.

D'Accardo, you're starting to sound like a broken record. Hahahahaha. Bad joke. Sorry.

Glad we're putting out our best out there against Peavy. 7-8-9-1, talk about some easy outs!

Wasn't the whole point of having LaRoche play 2B in Vegas was so he could back Kent up? Why don't any of you media types ever call Torre out on lineups as horrible as this one?

LOL. God I hate Jake Peavy!! I am watching with the hopes that he either gets beaned or nailed with a comebacker. I'm sure that sounds horrible, but I don't care. I really hate this guy and his Dodger dominance.

Tony...

Can you try to explain why Joe had Maza and his .227 average starting in place of Andy LaRoche at Second Base today? I thought the plan was for Andy to be the right-side relief... and it's not like the Dodgers need extra hitting right now anyway... you know... being down by six and all. What's on Joe's mind to have done this?

Thanks!

And how about Torre saying that because Kuroda pitches so well with Ardoin, he'd be catching him today and will probably become his personal catcher but then pulls him at the last minute ... and then Kuroda gives up 5 in the 1st ...

It seems odd but it does seem like Kuroda needs Ardoin as his personal catcher to succeed right now. However, I think Torre's move had to do with the fact that Kent needed the day off and then Kemp decided to start serving his 2 game suspension. So you take Martin out of a line-up that's already pretty weak, and he kind of had no choice, imho.

Having Maza play 2nd over LaRoche, however... in a lineup desperately needing offense, makes less sense to me. Hope they'll think differently on that one next time.
