Fox just said Jeff Kent is out of the lineup, is he ok. Also any news on that veteran infielder Colletti was looking to acquire. Vizquel or Hall?
Pierre now has a macabre on-base percentage of .332, unacceptable for any leadoff hitter. It might be time to call up Repko or make a signing until Jones returns.
Here's a family fun stat!!! In Penny's previous 5 starts in which he's 0-4 with an ERA of 9.60 and a WHIP of 1.95, he's walked 4.3 hitters per 9 innings and his pitch count is the equivilent to 169 pitches per 9 innings...
Seems to me like he's stopped locating his fastball and he can't get his curve over for a strike... Add the fact that he now "pitches to contact", hitters are just taking him deep into counts and by the 5 inning, he's spent. Greg Maddux he certainly is NOT!
No news on the mystery infielder. I'll try to look into it tomorrow, but I can't imagine it's Bill Hall of Omar Vizquel. It's a utility, backup-type guy from what I understand.
