Dodgers 2, Braves 1

D-Lowe became the latest Dodgers starter to flirt with perfection. His bid ended on a leadoff single by Gregor Blanco in the seventh, but Lowe still got the win in what was probably his best performance of the season. Dodgers move to 45-46 and back into a first-place tie with Aironza. … This didn’t make the paper, but Jason Schmidt came out of last night’s rehab start fine. He’ll make his next one as scheduled on Sunday against Tacoma. Mark Sweeney will start his rehab tomorrow. And Juan Pierre is said to be ahead of schedule with the MCL sprain in his left knee. He was supposed to miss four to six weeks, so I’m not exactly sure what ahead of schedule translates to.

It translates to losing, because it will cost Kemp/Ethier playing time.

Kemp/Ethier better get their bats red hot and force Torre’s hand at keeping them in the lineup when Slappy returns. It will be the only way they stay in the lineup. Hopefully Mattingly will be able to fix their swings in time to contribute to keeping Pierre comfortably on the bench.
