Phillies 8, Dodgers 1

| | Comments (9) |

Offensively, this team is beginning to bear a strange resemblance to its former self. I'm talking before Blake and Manny arrived. Dodgers have lost three out of four and scored a total of 10 runs in those four games. Tonight, in one of the most ridiculous hitter's parks in baseball, the Dodgers managed one run on five hits and went hitless in four at-bats with RISP. Greg Maddux's debut was hardly worth waiting for. He was great for three innings and good for 3 2/3. But then he walked Pat Burrell with two outs in the fourth, fell behind Ryan Howard 2-0 and gave up a bomb. Phillies never looked back. Dodgers fall to 65-63. Snakes already up 1-0 on the Fish. If the Dodgers slip to three games behind, it will be their largest deficit since Aug. 1. The last time they were MORE than three games back was on June 30.

we're waiting for you to hit Nomar... anytime will due. Since coming of the DL Nomar is hitting .200, he has 9 total bases and 4 of those came on his walk off HR (in 8 games).

I remember when the Dodgers got Manny and he was the guy saying, this is great, but if we're expecting him to do all the work it will be a shame... Well Nomar...

the bandaids being applied are not going to make dodgers winners.....lacking in pitching and hitting is not gonna help the dodgers win the division...the weight is too heavy for manny to carry and if runners do not get on base for him..he becomes just an average hitter who the opposition will pitch around....and how many lineups will torrie make and they still don't work....right now there is no one hot on hitting or pitching....still resembling the team of second half last year...resigned to be losers....need to rebuild...waited all last year and over half of this year and the team still hasn't jelled......get rid of some dead wood...starting at the top and rebuild a new team with a NEW gm.....maddox WAS a good pitcher in his day....but his day has gone......ask san diego.....we added another aarp employee

The record doesn't lie but does continue to betray the Dodgers/Torre's misplaced faith in the journey 'e':

When Pierre starts: Dodgers are 14-4

When ethier starts: Dodgers are 5-8

Down to Philly as we speak, these ethier Dodgers will soon lose again: thence a 5-9 record with the journey 'e' on center stage... as compared with the sparkling 14-4 mark of the Pierre led Dodgers.

Oh, the humanity...the 'az' angst be palpable now

heh heh heh
