Today's lineup: still no Pierre
He has started one game -- ONE -- since he popped off last Sunday about how the Dodgers had ``put me in a difficult position'' all year and how ``they're sticking it to me.'' Torre says there is no correlation. A lot of people say a lot of things. But many of you have pointed out on this blog over the past few days that the Dodgers' best outfield alignment is Manny, Kemp and Ethier. Maybe Torre is beginning to agree.

Not only is Ned Colletti a horrible judge of talent he is also a horrible judge of character. The last "good guy" he brought in here was Luis Gonzalez and once he got sent to the bench for a superior player all he did was bitch and complain and tore apart the clubhouse. Now the super nice, ultra hard working Juan Pierre is starting to do the same thing. He won't tear apart the clubhouse thankfully. I really think guys on the Dodgers know they are a better team without Slappy in the lineup. Let him finish out the year on the roster but once our season is over our new GM should start trying to dump him and his horrific contract on someone. Too bad Bill Bavasi got fired in Seattle. He is the only GM that is dumber then Ned so I figured he'd be our only chance of dumping Slappy.
Everybody's a good guy when they're happy and playing. The true test is when things don't go the way they want and how they react.
Juan Pierre is right... Why are people sticking to him? Let's not forget, it wasn't Pierre who signed himself to a huge 5year $44M contract. Like the horrible signing of Jason Schmidt, that decision was made by GM Ned Colletti. All Pierre has done is play his game. He's continued to meet his career average each year since joining the blue. He's not a power hitter and has never been. He's the guy that's supposed to get on base and hopefully some big bopper behind him can drive him in. So let's stop blaming Pierre for the Dodgers lackluster offensive over the years. He was signed for his speed and not to be a run producing outfielder.Anytime you want to criticize Pierre, how about you target your displeasure at the man who signed Schmidt and let's not forget, Andruw Jones. I'm surprised Colletti didn't sign Barry Zito to a 7year $140M contract. With the decisions he's made since joining the blue, it's definitely something that was right up his alley.
Well uclaking, the Dodgers actually score 50% more runs when anyone other then Juan Pierre bats leadoff. I think you can point a pretty big finger at him. Although like you said it was our moronic GM that gave him such a terrible contract. It didn't really help us either when Torre thought Pierre was the best player on the team for a while.

This is a logically-flawed conclusion unless the ONLY change in the lineup is replacing Pierre as the leadoff hitter.
The Dodgers average about 3.3 runs a game with slappy in the leadoff spot this season. When someone else besides Pierre has batted leadoff the Dodgers score over 5 runs a game. It's not 50% but its pretty clear this offense is way more productive without Juan Pierre at the top.
Actually it IS 50%.
(5-3.3) / 3.3 = 52%
