Dodgers 8, Pirates 2

Juan Pierre's HR, a solo shot off Marino Salas in the sixth inning, was his first since he hit three for the Chicago Cubs in 2006, the last of which came on Sept. 18 of that year. He had gone 281 games and 1,070 at-bats without one. Hiroki Kuroda was working on a gem when he was lifted after seven shutout innings and just 83 pitches, but Torre wanted to get Takashi Saito and Brad Penny in for an inning apiece. Dodgers go to 78-72 and shave their magic number to nine. Snakes tied with the Giants in the fourth.

Penny still needs more time I think...Saito didn't look too bad. PLEASE DON'T RUSH PENNY. He's not even close to starting in my opinion. The bats looked good last night!

In regards to Jeff Kent...I hope when he returns that he notices quickly that this is a different team, and he needs to reform and be part of this team. Lighten up...it's possibly your last season so don't screw with this teams chemistry. They are playing like a first place team that ARE HAVING FUN. HAVE FUN JEFF KENT!
