Giants 6, Dodgers 5

It's extremely late. I'm extremely tired. And this game meant extremely nothing. I promise to blog more tomorrow. If you care, Dodgers fall to 83-77, their first two-game losing streak since their eight-game losing streak. Snakes won, so they pull within ... oh, forget it.

Extremely redundant...

Tony... meaningless or not... could you please attempt to better explain the reasoning behind that bogus "home run" replay ball for us? Because here at home, in all of our 92 inch HDTV glory, the ball was shown to hit the top-lip off the front of the right field wall and carom downward back onto the field of play. The ball never crossed the top of the wall... never once did it cross the plane of the top of the wall... it bounced off the front of the wall near the very top of it. How could that be called a freaking "home run" ball???

And also, if the umps then award the Giants the Home Run how could they steal Bochy's pinch runner from him! That makes absolutely no sense at all! If the Home Run was awarded, there was no reason to use a pinch runner in the first place. Shoddy umpiring...

But really... I'm more intrigued by a ball hit off the right field wall and how it can be ruled a home run in the first place.

Thanks in advance for pretending to care! : )

Kevin, that's all laid out in tomorrow's game story. If you don't want to stick 25 cents in the little blue box, it should be on-line in a few ... right now, in fact. www.dailynews.com

Isn't it 50 cents now? ($1 on Sundays)?

can you smell it? yes, its joe stinkin' up the lineup again with kent and furcal. geeeez. this guy really needs to be saved from himself. please, bowa, take joe in the clubhouse and hose the guy.

why in the world go into the playoffs wtih kent at 2b? at best i would replace sweeny with kent's bat off the bench in a heart beat.

and furcal. serioiusly??? he hasn't played in four freakin' months. this is so messed up and counter intuitive, that you know, and i know, joe will do it!

and broxton, could you please lose 50 lbs and gain a changeup (or some heart) in the off season. in the meantime stay very far away from the closer's role.

Since the return of Mr. Chuckles, Dodgers are 0-3.

I was at the game last night myself and agree about the home run call, it was not only botched but the incredible delay made it even more ludicrous. And then they blew it again by having the Giants pinch runner count, which makes zero sense. Good job, umps! Meaningless game or not it was a bit frustrating, especially since the Giants ended up winning and those of us who were Dodger fans at the game had to listen to their fans and players celebrate as if they'd won the world series. Which of course, they haven't. For, you know, ever.

Anyway, Philly, I think with all due respect you're way off base regarding Furcal. He looked fantastic out there last night and if he's even just 85% of the Furcal we had at the beginning of the season he is a major, major upgrade over Berroa. You have to be kidding me. As far as Kent goes, I have mixed feelings but agree about him on defense, though he looked okay briefly last night I would rather have DeWitt in there at 2nd. But seriously thath is line-up for the playoffs that no longer has a black hole. I think your post is beyond ridiculous. And Broxton has actually been just FINE as a closer. Last night he got zero help from the crummy defense behind him, from Ozuna who has zero range or talent, to Pierre's noodle arm in left field (almost any other outfielder would've made that throw easily). I don't know if you actually watched the game or not...

Broxton has had a number of games where the defense was porous and let him down completely. Unlike Brian Wilson, Broxton's FB has life to it beyond just the velocity and for those of us at the game last night he looked totally fine.

Btw, Tony, is there really a chance Pablo Ozuna makes the post-season roster? Please tell me there isn't. If we need a defensive sub/utilty guy, at least Chin Lung Hu is a solid fielder. Ozuna brings nothing to the table whatsoever. When will we know post-season roster? After Sunday?

Did any of you think that maybe, just maybe, Torre wanted to see more than one pinch-hit AB from guys that are trying to come back from surgeries?

Put them in the lineup in a MEANINGLESS game and they'll get 2-3 ABs each before being pulled for defensive replacements.
