Tonight's lineup: Berroa plays SS again

Joe Torre did say that if someone got on a run, he was going to ride it out. I don't know if you would call what Berroa is on a ``run,'' but he does have eight hits in his past 22 ABs, which is a mile better than Nomar (3 for 28) at this point.

Nomar obviously can't handle playing everyday so he shouldn't and it shouldn't be assumed that he can. Joe can say all he wants that Nomar is valuable with his situational hitting and his clutch hitter but if Joe actually looked at Nomar's stats in clutch situations he might rethink that.

With RISP Nomar is hitting .242 this year.

With runners on base he's batting .175.

In Late Inning pressure situations(I dont know what that is but its a stat you can look up) he's batting .150. He has over 20 ABs in each of those situations.

Now the only thing he has done well is hit with RISP and 2 outs but thats a small sample size comared to all the other situations I listed. He's hitting .333 with 3 hits in 9 ABs with RISP and 2 outs. Maybe Joe sees something different then I do but his argument for still having Nomar as our primary short stop isn't legit. Nomar has no value playing for this team on a regular basis. If anything he should become our primary pinch hitter and Sweeney should get DFA.

I don't think sitting Nomar has anything to do with offense. It's his lack of defense. Anything Berroa can do offensively is a bonus. He won't lose games for us up the middle.

Tony, can you tell Joe that Beimel can pitch to right handed batters too. He just wasted Cory Wade.

i see he is a defensive liability and should consider another profession...having too many injuries....between he and kent......their defense leaves the middle wide open because of their lack of mobility..like dewitts hustle.....gonna be good
