Tony, good article today about Jones and Furcal. I just had one problem with it. You said the Dodgers have 5 everyday outfielders for 3 spots. Andruw Jones and Juan Pierre are not everyday players. The Dodgers have 3 everyday players for 3 positions. There isn't an outfield problem, there's a too many useless players on this team problem and Jones and Pierre and two of the most useless.

Max, there was one other problem with it, too. Rafael Furcal DID play winter ball last year. Not sure why he told me -- us, actually, as there were two writers standing there at the time -- that he hasn't played since 2003.
I am not sure I can comprehend how a guy, who after 8 years has a career batting average of .300, 427 SB's and an OB% of .346 is "useless," but if you say so...
I guess those guys are a dime a dozen.
Mark, Pierre used to be useful but Pitchers figured out how to pitch him and he never made the adjustments...some Veteran. Juan Pierre is batting .273/.321/.311 this year. The only reason he's not leading the league in outs again this year is because Joe finally got smart and benched him. He can't hit, he can't throw and he has been very overrated his whole career. He's useless.
We are going to be screwed in the playoffs. What are we going to do when we've got RISP and we need a pinch hitter. It's either Sweeney, Pierre or Jones. I'd rather let our pitcher hit.
