Dodgers close to signing Mark Loretta
The official word through the club is that they don't have a deal, which is probably true. But MLB.com is reporting that they do, so there has to be something to it. My guess is it will be announced and completed tomorrow. Good, veteran pickup for the boys. Not sure if he'll be an everyday 2b or a utility guy.
According to ESPN, this deal is now official. More significantly, it almost assures Nomar Garciaparra's days as a Dodger are over.
So....Tony...you need anyone to carry your stuff or go get coffee for you? I live here, have nothing better to do and I'd love to catch a glimpse of what the winter meetings look like.

Nice pick up... at a little more than 1/10th of Nomar's salary. I hope Nomar calls it quits and stays in the organization in some capacity, but his Dodger playing days I think are over.
MLB.com's blog is claiming Ned met with Scott about Manny last night, although no word on whether another offer was presented.
