Manny aggravates left hammy, leaves game

Says he did it chasing down the last ball hit to him, a double into the leftfield corner by Troy Tulowitzki. Manny was due up second in the bottom of the inning, but Delwyn Young pinch hit for him, the first sign something was wrong. At first glance, this doesn’t appear to be anything major. On the other hand, it’s the second time in the three games he has been scheduled to play that he was either scratched from the lineup or left early because of this left-hamstring problem, which he admits is becoming a concern.
“Yeah, but you have to be patient,” he said. “What can I do? I come in early and do all my work to prepare for the season. I’ll just take it day by day.”
Manny is scheduled to play LF in tomorrow’s split-squad game against Seattle, but that obviously is in jeopardy now.

And all of the ‘sky-is-falling’ Dodger fans are now HOPING he opts out after one year if he stays hurt instead of hoping last week he would stay for both years.

but if his name is Gibson he gets a free pass on probematic legs, right?

Give it time, he has been there, what? A week? Still early and better to progress slowly with opening day being the target not some ST game.

Whenever Manny is ACTUALLY ready is when he should come back. I wouldn’t care if he missed the first couple of weeks of the regular season, as long as he came back perfectly healthy. Last thing I want is for him to be rushed. I still haven’t forgotten when the Dodgers rushed Gagne back on a bum knee, and probably contributed to his subsequent arm problems.

Let’s not forget, the regular season is 162 games. He needs to be ready for the long haul.

No, Gagne’s raging ‘roid addiction contributed to his arm problems. Don’t kid yourself. As much as we all loved this guy for 3 years, he lied to us.
