If you’re the guy who gave Manny/Furcal the portraits …

… just know that they are a big hit in the clubhouse. A few days ago, a fan on the back fields handed Manny Ramirez and Rafael Furcal full-color, painted portraits of themselves that look really nice. Manny has his proudly displayed on a shelf above his locker, and Furcal took his home so his kids could enjoy it. We asked them yesterday if they knew who painted them, and they didn’t. Manny just said, “A guy gave it to me the other day.” Not sure if the guy is a reader of this blog, but if you’re out there, come clean and take your bow for a job well-done.

Hey Tony can you get pictures of Manny’s protrate and post it on the blog? Thank’s a lot!

  • Tony Jackson

You mean Manny’s PROSTATE? If you’re trying to say that you’re sick of reading about Manny, believe me, you’re preaching to the choir. But for the moment, he is THE story. So we all have to just ride it out for a little while.

    Tony, maybe he misspelled “portrait”?

  • Tony Jackson

Oh, OK, gotcha. I thought it was one of those gags like, `We’re so sick of reading about this guy and how it’s a story every time he goes to the bathroom.” Thanks for clearing that up, Andrea. So to answer Pablo’s question, no, unfortunately, I’m unable to do that. I have sworn off posting photos on this blog until the posting process in simplified. Every time I try to do it, I end up on the phone with one of our I.T. guys for 45 minutes trying to figure out how.

    Tony,
When I was at Camelback Ranch last week, I saw this guy with a beautiful painted picture of Manny. He said he painted it himself. He(the painter) was talking to a relative of Furcal. I did not get his name.

    Tony,

If you should end up speaking with one of your IT guys, could you please find out why it’s always necessary (at least for me) to sign in before posting. I’ve tried posting with both Movable Type and Typekey, and always check the “remember me” box. To the best of my knowledge, checking that box is tantamount to giving permission for your site to upload a cookie to my computer, thereby allowing me to skip the annoying sign-in procedure. There was a time in the distant past when the site did recognize me. But that hasn’t happened for a very long time.

Emma, was it a picture of Manny taking his helmet off (or perhaps putting it on)? If so, that was the guy.

  • crzblue

Yes Tony, that got to be the picture then. I almost asked the guy if I could take a picture last week.

i think there was a grady little sighting last night -though he was disguised as davey johnson (TEAM USA manager).

what was that guy thinking leaving Oswalt in until he gave up six runs when the Japan bullpen has been untouchable?

it was a must win situation and Oswalt should have come out after the third or the fourth run at the latest.

i know these exhibition games don’t mean much to most folks, but someone has to win and it looks the the Japanses will repeat as champions.

they play smart and tough and fearless!
