Dodgers not interested in Sheffield
Not that they need another outfielder, but it was worth asking whether the Dodgers would be interested in picking up Gary Sheffield, if only to see what Joe Torre would say.
``We don't have room right now,'' Torre said. ``Offense isn't our problem at this point in time. Plus we don't have a designated hitter, so I'd have to say no,''

wow. Torre doesn't even try and hide his racism.
Who would want this joke back in our colors anyway? We might as well sign Barry Bonds to be our lefty off the bench and motivational speaker.
Hey, Mike ...
It's been over 40 years since I slept through Sociology 101, so I completely missed the "racism" that you found so obvious in Torre's statement about not having a place for Sheffield.
Could you be kind enough to point it out to me?
It's a joke, Harpo! Sheff accused Uncle Joe of being a racist when he favored certain players over others when they were together in NY. So relax and watch one of your movies. Piazza's comment was funny. By the way, what ever happened to Gummo?
I always thought the funnniest outfield every might have been Sheff, Ricky & Dial-1-900-JOSE...but you know how Rickey is never worried about how Ricky is going to do because Ricky knows all about Ricky. Then in the other corner there would be Sheff "...just looking out for the security of his family...it is all about security..." because the first $80M he had earned did not really offer the security he needs for his family. Cripes Canseco would have seems like the 'normal' one in that group.
