Eric Stults no-hit bid ended in 5th

In quite the juxtaposition to his last start against San Francisco, Dodgers starter Eric Stults had a perfect game going Saturday until Aaron Rowand’s double with one out in the fifth inning.

The 29-year-old lefty, called up when Hiroki Kuroda went on the DL a month ago, was out of the game by that time when he faced the Giants a week and-a-half ago. Stults exited the Dodgers eventual 9-4 loss in the third inning having allowed five runs on seven hits.

Only one of the 16 batters he faced through five innings even squared up on him today. Rowand’s double proved harmless, as Stults induced a fly out and ground out to end the inning.
Score through five innings: Dodgers 5, Giants 0
