McCourt meets with Manny

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt met with Manny Ramirez yesterday. They met in person after Ramirez called McCourt. McCourt said he wanted to meet with him “eyeball to eyeball.” McCourt said Ramirez was remorseful, and he’s ready to begin the rebuilding process with everyone he’s disappointed. McCourt said Ramirez didn’t get into the details of his failed drug test and that it wasn’t important to him. He also said he believes it’s important for Ramirez to speak to his teammates, the fans and the community.

I’ve got to give credit to McCourt for going on the air with Vin Scully to talk about the situation. I don’t know of many other owners in the league who would do something like that.

Jeff Weaver pitched another good game!

In this day and age, I think that ANY owner in the same circumstances would choose to express his opinions on live radio or TV.

It’s the only way to ensure that you aren’t “misquoted,” or that some snippet gets taken out of context by some fool writing on a weblog.

“Jeff Weaver pitched another good game!”

Well, he didn’t get bombed, but I wouldn’t call it a good game. He was consistently behind hitters, and walked four of them, giving up 3 runs in his 5 innings of work.
