Dodgers do it again

| | Comments (7) |

The Dodgers improved to 11-0 at home this season, the franchise's best home record to start a season in franchise history, with a 7-2 win over the Diamondbacks...plenty of interesting stuff in this one...a triple play and back-to-back home runs by Manny Ramirez and Andre Ethier in the first inning. Ramirez was 2 for 3 with 3 RBI and one run scored. Jonathan Broxton needed just 12 pitches to get through the ninth. Obviously, there was no save situation, but Joe Torre surely probably just wanted to keep him sharp. Jeff Weaver makes his first start of the season with the Dodgers tomorrow. The Dodgers have the best record in baseball at 19-8 (11 games over .500) and have a 5 1/2-game lead over San Francisco.

As I mentioned before, this blog is going to need one singular voice for it to work. First Rich, then Ramona then Jill? Really?

These hardworking writers don't have to write ANYTHING for you Buddy. They string, they get background info and they have a deadline every night. The blog is just extra for them to do. Instead of criticizing the blog and the writers, why don't you show them a little understanding, respect and appreciation as I'm sure none of them expected to be doing this as recently as a week ago.

I don't get the impression that Buddy was criticizing Rich, Ramona and Jill. Rather, I believe his ire is directed at the publisher, namely the Daily News. Managment needs to decide what the format will be, assuming this blog continues at all.

Right now this blog appears to be almost dead, given that the only comments being made concern the state of the blog instead of the state of the Dodgers.

Hey TeamHasHoles,
Brooklyn Dodger was right, The Daily News is the source for my angst. I'm sure these writers are great and they all work hard but the future of this blog is very unclear, especially since the DL will not have a beat writer to cover the team everyday. It's more of a testament to Tony's value than anything else.

On a positive note, the Dodgers have the best record in the entire league right now and ESPN has them ranked first in their weekly rankings. Their pitching has been great and Ethier is excelling in the four spot. He's one of the most dangerous hitters in the league right now, thanks to Manny batting ahead of him. David Ortiz has looked awful this year in Boston.

Hey guys,

I think the best way to explain things is that we're going to take a week or so to figure things out.

There will be more voices here, but the intention is for the blog to continue to be a valuable supplement to the coverage in the paper. It's going to take a week or so to establish a new rhythm. Hopefully you guys can bear with us in this difficult time.

The Dodgers' not only broke their franchise home record to start a season, they now have the best home record to start a season than any other NL team in the history of baseball.
