Silverio, 25, missed all of last season after suffering a concussion among numerous injuries in an off-season car crash. Prior to the crash Silverio was among the Dodgers’ top prospects, batting .306/.340/.542 with 11 stolen bases and 16 homers in his first full Double-A season at Chattanooga in 2011.

Next spring he’ll be joined by infielders Ozzie Martinez and Nick Evans, right-handed pitchers Juan Abreu and Gregory Infante, left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz and catcher Wilkin Castillo.

Martinez, 24, had his contract purchased from the Chicago White Sox on July 10. He batted .255/.296/.275 in 39 games for Triple-A Albuquerque in 2012.

Evans, 26, saw his 2012 season end April 30 when he broke his wrist in a game with Triple-A Indianapolis, the Pittsburgh Pirates’ affiliate. He played 159 major-league games for the Mets from 2008-11, batting .256 with eight homers while playing six different positions.

Abreu, 27, has pitched in seven major-league games (all with the Astros) and 229 minor-league games (four different organizations) since 2005.

Infante, 25, has pitched in five major-league games (all with the White Sox) and 180 minor-league games (all in the White Sox orgnization) since 2006. According to Baseball-Reference.com, he’s Freddy Garcia’s brother-in-law.

De La Cruz, 24, went 5-8 with a 4.92 ERA for Double-A Erie last season. It was his first year in the Detroit Tigers organization after six years in the Cleveland Indians’ system. He has yet to reach the majors.

Castillo, 28, has spent the last four of his nine professional seasons at Triple-A, getting only 35 major-league at-bats during that time. Last season he split time behind the plate at Colorado Springs, batting .253. For what it’s worth, his career minors batting average (.270) and slugging average (.386) are similar to that of A.J. Ellis.

Josh Fields, who batted .322 with 13 home runs for Triple-A Albuquerque last season, signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies. Left-hander Scott Rice, who also spent all of last season at Albuquerque, signed with the New York Mets.
