Stephen Fife will make his second straight start in place of Chris Capuano on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves. Capuano was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left shoulder latissimus strain that caused him to miss Monday’s start against the San Diego Padres.

Capuano had an MRI exam Tuesday. After reviewing the extent of the injury, Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that Capuano was going to be questionable for Saturday’s start.

“That was enough for us,” Mattingly said. “Once we had that MRI it was pretty easy.”

Capuano suffered the injury in his last start May 29 in Anaheim, a 4-3 Dodgers loss. The left-hander made the trip to Denver last weekend and threw on the side, but still wasn’t feeling 100 percent.

Fife suffocated the Padres in winning his first major-league game Monday, allowing one run in 5 ⅓ innings.

Atlanta is batting .253 as a team against right-handers and .231 against lefties.

The Dodgers lifted Hanley Ramirez from the 15-day disabled list to take Capuano’s place on the active roster. Capuano, who was on the DL from April 17 to May 6 with a strained left calf, will serve the 18th DL stint by a Dodger this year.
