Reports: Seattle Mariners choose Lloyd McClendon over Tim Wallach for manager’s job.

The Seattle Mariners are set to hire Detroit Tigers hitting coach Lloyd McClendon as their new manager, according to multiple reports. The Puget Sound Business Journal first reported that an announcement was pending.

McClendon was chosen over Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach, who was also a candidate for the manager’s job in Detroit. Wallach is already under contract for 2013.
