Daily Distractions: Dodgers announce 2014 promotional schedule.

Hanley Ramirez bobblehead

This Hanley Ramirez bobblehead was released in 2013. Eleven bobbleheads are scheduled to be given away at Dodgers games in 2014.

The Dodgers announced their 2014 promotional schedule today. It’s Bobble-icious.

A total of eleven bobblehead dolls are scheduled to be given away next year, including replicas of Clayton Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Zack Greinke, Yasiel Puig, Magic Johnson, Pee Wee Reese, Roy Campanella and Babe Ruth.

Some other highlights: A “Kids’ Yasiel Puig fathead” on Opening Weekend, a Don Newcombe Brooklyn replica jersey, a T-shirt and a bobblehead that will be determined by Fan Vote.

And, read into this what you will:

Some bullet points for the weekend:

FanGraphs’ Dave Cameron thinks the A’s might have signed Nick Punto because there’s a market inefficiency for position players who specialize in coming off the bench.

Writes one American League MVP voter: “Players from non-contenders should not be listed on the ballot at all, but the BBWAA insists that we fill out all 10 slots, so I did, even though I did not think there were 10 worthy candidates from contending teams.”

• If college football player Will Likely decides to switch to baseball, the headline possibilities are tremendous.
