FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal reported Friday that the Dodgers will sign Cuban shortstop Erisbel Arruebarruena for five years and $25 million.
The contract still isn’t official. MLB.com reported that the 23-year-old is in the Dominican Republic waiting on a P-1 work visa.
Once Arruebarruena’s contract becomes official, the Dodgers will have to clear a spot on their full 40-man roster. The Dodgers have four middle infielders currently on the roster: Hanley Ramirez, Alex Guerrero, Dee Gordon and Justin Sellers.
