Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu throws off mound.

Hyun-Jin Ryu threw a low-intensity bullpen session at Dodger Stadium for about five minutes under the watch of head athletic trainer Stan Conte (and interpreter Martin Kim).

That might be considered ahead of schedule. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said Tuesday that Ryu wouldn’t be throwing off a mound anytime soon.

Ryu is on the 15-day disabled list with a strained gluteus medius and piriformus muscle in his right buttock. Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said that Ryu could be activated within “a day or two” once he’s eligible to return on August 28.
