Paco Rodriguez is expected to throw a bullpen session at Dodger Stadium in the next few days. It will be the left-hander’s second bullpen session since he suffered a strained left teres major muscle on August 4.
Rodriguez’s last bullpen session in Arizona went fine by all accounts, but the afflicted muscle was still sore the day after. The Dodgers are hoping for a better result this time around.
“Then we’re just kind of on the track of time,” Mattingly said. “Is he going to bounce back or not? Hopefully he’s going to be ready at some point this month.”
The Dodgers are at home until September 10 before they embark on their final road trip of the season, through San Francisco, Denver and Chicago. They return home September 22 and finish the regular season with six games at home. There’s still no official indication whether Rodriguez will join the Dodgers at home or on the road.
“I feel confident that he’s going to be ready at some point this month,” Mattingly said. “I’m not very confident saying that a week from now, five days from now he’s going to be doing something. I’m pretty confident he’ll be back at some point this month. I’m just not real sure of the timetable.”
Rodriguez played long toss in the outfield at Dodger Stadium under the watch of team trainers Monday. The left-hander has a 4.35 ERA in 13 games this season, all in relief.
