Sometimes baseball statheads like to throw out numbers like this one: “Carl Crawford needs to hit at least .373 over the final two months of the season to reach .300.” Or something like that.

In the case of Crawford, he did need to hit at least .373 over the season’s final two months to reach .300 — and that’s exactly what he did. He’s having fun again, writes Mark Whicker.
